Cradle Of Filth Lays Down the Gauntlet Again

Listening to the new Cradle Of Filth "Nymphetamine," right now. Damn, Dani's snarl just gets more sinister and the guitars have some fuckin' bite to 'em. Not as orchestral so far (I'm on track 6), a little over 71 minutes. There seems to be a drier sound productionwise, but it's actually better than you might think.

I haven't read very much at all about this release, but the girl on track six sounds like Liv Kristine, man.... this song is kick ass!!

Listened to the first half last night. They've definitely changed drastically from where they started. I remember listening to "Vempire", and not being able to figure out what Dani was saying, even with the lyric sheet in hand. However, on the new CD, I could pick out actual words from time to time. Defintely not as extreme. At times, it almost drifts towards Power Metal with Black vocals. Not bad at all.

I love bumping old threads.

So what's the verdict with this album? I've read lots of mixed things, and naturally BW&BK has been masturbating over it...not that that means anything, but...I'm intrigued, especially since I loved Damnation & A Day.

Well?

i still kinda want to hear an early full-length of CoF's just to see why everyone argues, but I'm in no rush.

Sorry for the delay, I've been a bit of a wreck the last few days...

In my opinion, the new album isn't as grandoise as Damnation, which depending on which side of the fence you fall on, is either a good thing or a bad thing. I think it's reminescent of their older material, Dusk and earlier.

Only with more up front guitars and less "screechiness" by Dani, right PJ? At least that's what I've heard. It sounds like it's just riffy enough for me to get into.

If you're interested, I can hook you up with access to this CD. E-mail me.

So anyways, the cd, (or the title track with Liv Kristene) is nominated for Best Metal Performance at the GRAMMYS, along with Slipknot, Motorhead, and some other bands.
Haha, that's three out of three "metal performances" that aren't even metal. Good fucken work.

Motörhead kick ass, make no mistake, but I'd very much hesitate to call them a metal band, to be honest. Their roots lie more in punk than Black Sabbath.
