British extreme metal veterans CRADLE OF FILTH will tentatively enter the studio in the fall of 2019 to begin recording their new album. The follow-up to 2017's "Cryptoriana - The Seductiveness of Decay" is expected to arrive sometime in 2020. In a brand new interview with the "Rocknroll Beer Guy" podcast, CRADLE OF FILTH frontman Dani Filth said about the band's upcoming disc (hear audio below): "We'll be writing and compiling new stuff on the road [this year]. We're hoping to get into the studio around November or December. Time of release, possibly August of next year, maybe sooner." Regarding the musical direction fo the new CRADLE material, Dani said: "It's sounding great. It's just a step up from the last record, but we're trying to explore new horizons as well — mix some things up a little bit. It's great. What I've heard is awesome. I'm starting to assemble some ideas, string things together. Hopefully being on the road will bring us a lot closer together and [we'll be able to] do stuff in soundcheck etcetera. He added: "It's decidedly CRADLE OF FILTH, and it's the best CRADLE OF FILTH that we can muster. The last few records, a lot of people said, 'Wow, this is a return to the olden glory days,' whatever. I think that myself, but I don't know if that reflects everybody's opinions. But, yeah, now I'm not gonna say it's darker and heavier. I mean, we've done that, and there's only so far you can go forward with that. We're just gonna experiment a little bit. It's hard to really say, 'cause, at the moment, everything's just a bit fledgling and embryonic." Asked if everybody in the band contributes to the songwriting process, Dani said: "Music is collaborative. In fact, I only really add opinions. And if I have something pressing in my mind, like a tune, then I suggest it. But generally, the band write the stuff. Then we come together and I say what I like and don't like. It's a very involved process, but it involves everybody — that's the good thing. And then we go backward and forward, and the songs gradually take shape. For example, on the last record, 'Achingly Beautiful' was a track that was destined for the previous album. It was undeveloped. But then I said to everybody, 'This is such a great song,' and I resubmitted it and we rewrote it. It's a perfect example of the way we work together. If it had been shit, then everybody would have said, 'No. This is shit, mate.' So it's a democracy rather than the work of a tyrant." Later this month, CRADLE OF FILTH will return to North America once again to promote "Cryptoriana - The Seductiveness Of Decay". For the second leg of its North American onslaught, the band has enlisted industrial/metal shock rocker WEDNESDAY 13 as well as theatrical metal newcomers RAVEN BLACK. As previously reported, CRADLE OF FILTH will perform its third album, 1998's "Cruelty And The Beast", in its entirety at several shows this spring and summer, including at the Dokk'em Open Air and Summer Breeze festivals.
