MINE pertains to Opeth, so I'm putting it in the main section.

I was just thinking earlier today about the kind of kickass supergroups Mike's been involved with in the past/present (Bloodbath, Sörskogen), and I decided I really wanted to see some more of it. So I began fantasizing. This is what I came up with.

Bass: Victor Wooten
Drums: Morgan Ågren
Guitar: Govan Guthrie
Guitar: Fredrik Thordendal
Keys: Mats Öberg
Vocals: Mikael Åkerfeldt

Band name: ???????

They'd be a technical death fusion band - eclipsing modern standards of genre and passing into realms of jazz/funk/death. We could call it pretentiacore. They're all virtuosos, and I think their respective styles would work in this scenario. Thoughts? MAKE YOUR OWN!

BTW kind of discuss it, don't just throw out names there.

Celine Dion: Vocals
Aaron Neville: Vocals
Christina Aguilera: Vocals
Angus Young: Bongos
Garth Brooks: Vocals

Mike Portnoy: Drums
Jordan Rudess: Keyboards
Tony Levin: Bass
Steven Wilson: Rythm Guitar
David Gilmour: Lead Guitar
Mikael Akerfeldt: Vocals

Band name: The Crimson - Pink Porcupine Dream Opeth

Illidan and Sad Madrigal just put together the most incredible lineups I have ever seen. Wow. Gilmour and Wilson would be incredible, but Goven, Agren, Thordendal, Akerfeldt, Oberg and Wooten simply has to happen. Gooooodaaaaaamn.

voice: marco carta!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
guitarr: tom kaluizt
drum: gustav scafer
bass: :saint::headbang::kickass::kickass::kickass::kickass::kickass::kickass::kickass::kickass::kickass::zombie::Smokin:

Bass: Les Claypool (Primus and Les Claypool)
Drums: Danny Carey (Tool)
Lead Guitar: Paul Waggoner (Between the Buried and Me)
2nd Guitar: Fredrik Thordendal (Meshuggah)
Keys: Steinar Sverd Johnsen (Arcturus)
Vocals: Mikael Åkerfeldt (Opeth and Bloodbath)

Name: Corpus Colosseum

They'd be Prog Metal of course.

Oh, this will be tough...

Vocals: Mike Patton
Bass: Sean Malone
Guitar: Michael Romeo
Guitar:Ron Jarzombek
Drums: Dave Lombardo (maybe Portnoy or Carey)

 man when I read Angus Young on Bongos I seriously ROFLed

Vivoren, keep up the good work

As for supergroups, too much talent and not enough interaction and emotion, so I'll pass. The ones that have been posted however have been impressive

Vocals/lead guitar: Mikael Åkerfeldt (Opeth, duh fuckers)
Backup vocals/Guitar: David Gilmour (Pink Floyd fame)
Bass: Justin Chancellor (Tool fame)
Drums: Neil Peart (Rush fame)
Keyboard: Per Wiberg (Opeth fame)
Genre: Progressive rock/metal (Think a well blended mix of Opeth and Pink Floyd)

Band name: The Opethian Pink Tool Rush

Wow, the thought of Patton and Akerfeldt just crossed my mind, cheers Mr Bungle.
Imagining a cross between Goodbye Sober Day and The Lotus Eater and mouth is watering..

Seriously, together these 2 could probably cover all genres in the spectrum, as long as Patton doesn't resort to too much hip hop

That just gave me wood.

This is gonna be tough....

Jonas Renkse - Vocals/drums
Mikael Akerfeldt - Guitar, vocals
Hansi Kursch - Vocals
Lars Norberg - Bass
Anders Nystrom - Guitar
Trollhorn - Keyboards

Guest musician:

Rainer Landfermann - Vocals

Don't know what the hell this band would be, probably a mess. It'd be easier if it were like, 'Make up a black metal supergroup,' or 'Make up a folk metal supergroup,' or something.

Ok, I'm gonna go ahead and make genre-specific supergroups.

Doom/death metal:

Mikael Akerfeldt - Vocals
Jonas Renkse - Drums, vocals
Anders Nystrom - Guitar, bass
Fredrik Norrman - Guitar

(Can't get better than the best.)

Black metal:

Rainer Landfermann - Vocals
Ihsahn - Guitar, vocals
Blackheim - Guitar, vocals
Little Sunshine (from Weakling) - Drums
Malefic - Keyboards and programming
Bass - Steve DiGiorgio (sp?)

Folk metal:

Vintersorg - Guitar, vocals
Katla - Vocals
Trollhorn - Keyboards
B. Dominator - Drums
Not sure about bass....

Epic/power metal:

Hansi Kursch - Vocals, bass
Andre Olbrich - Guitar
Marcus Siepen - Guitar
Thomen Stauch - Drums

(Again, can't get better than the best.)

Melancholy music:

Jonas Renkse - Vocals
Mikael Akerfeldt - Vocals, guitar
John Haughm - Guitar, vocals
Martin Lopez - Drums
Anders Nystrom - Guitar, bass
Vincent & Danny Cavanagh - Guitar, vocals
Per Wiberg - Keyboards
Guest vocals by the guy from Tenhi.
There would also be cello, violin, and harp in this group. I don't know who'd play 'em, though.

Generally crazy metal:

Devin Townsend - Vocals, guitar
Gene Hoglan - Drums
Garm - Vocals
Lars K. Norberg - Bass
And maybe... Steve Vai - Guitar
