May 2 will see iconic dark metal pioneers, Crematory, release their new studio album, Destination, via ROAR.
Following previously-released singles, “Welt Aus Glas” and the epic album title track, today, Crematory present their cover version of the Type O Negative classic “My Girlfriend’s Girlfriend”, featuring a guest performance by End Of Green’s frontman, Michelle Darkness.
“Our cover version from Type O Negative’s hit ‘My Girlfriend’s Girlfriend’ is very special for us. We had the pleasure of playing a few shows and festivals with Type O Negative in the mid-90s, had some very good aftershow parties together and a nice friendship,” Crematory drummer Markus Jüllich remembers, and adds: “Pete Steele is a legend and this song fits our Crematory style perfectly. It’s our tribute to Pete and Type O, because they are one of the most famous bands from the good old gothic metal scene of the 90s, and we respect them very much. In addition, we invited Michelle Darkness (End of Green) as a guest vocalist for this song, who pays excellent homage to Pete Steel’s vocal range and delivers a terrific duet in combination with Felix.”
The Crematory cover version of “My Girlfriend’s Girlfriend” is out now and available on all digital streaming services here. Watch the video below:
In the more than three decades of their existence, Crematory have seen trends come and go, while always staying true to their trademarks, they belong to one of Germany’s most distinctive gothic metal pioneers to date. Following their latest studio offering, Inglorious Darkness (2022), Crematory will now return with their 17th studio album, Destination, that sees the iconic band reach new and even higher levels than ever before! Literally combining all the strengths and phases of the gothic metal pioneers, going back to their melodic death metal roots in places, diving deep into the gothic realm again but also surprising listeners, Destination will mark a triumphant return to the past combined with the strengths of the present.
“The new studio album Destination is an ingenious mix of the 90s gothic metal times like Illusions, combined with hard melodic death metal hymns like ‘Act Seven’ and modern electronic songs with German lyrics in the style of ‘Revolution’. More is not possible“, drummer Markus Jüllich recently said and added: “With Destination the new standard of the modern melodic gothic metal era is determined! The previous album Inglorious Darkness was the start of Felix singing all the songs on his own again and now we’ve managed a perfect precision landing with Destination!”
Crematory sound highly motivated, they are upping the ante and definitely still have a lot to say even after 34 years of a successful band history. In support of Destination, Crematory will embark on an album release tour kicking off on May 1. Find all upcoming dates listed below.
The album will be available as CD, colored 2-LP Vinyl (incl. 4 bonus-Tracks), 3-CD Earbook (feat. the regular album, 4-track bonus CD, album on instrumental versions + a 36-page booklet), an exclusive 18-CD bundle (new album, exclusive remix album + all 16 previous albums) and digital.
