The last 25 pages of "In the House of Sand and Fog" had me tearing up, more so out of frustration and resentment towards the woman and her boyfriend cop. I wanted her to die a horrible death for what she had done.

Also, I'll admit, the first time I read "Return of the King", I was really close to losing it at the end when Frodo, Bilbo, etc. all get on the ships with the elves.

Movies? Hmmm...I definitely feel really sad at times. The closest I've probably got to actual tears is the ending of "Philadelphia" when they play the home footage of him as a boy playing on the beach. Perhaps also the ending of Schindlers List too...shit, there's probably a whole bunch.

ok, I'll baby up here. The tears start gathering up at the end of Rudy, and the first time I saw Jerry Maguire. Yes, I am that guy.

If anyone mentions Titanic, you're mega-gay.

I completely lost it at the end of Godfather III. Shitty movie, but that scene on the stairs fucking killed me.

I read Where the Red Fern Grows when I was like 10 and at the end I couldn't take it anymore.

Other than these two, a tear here and there for certain movies and books, but these were the only two I completely let go of any testosterone I had.

hmmmm, seems most here cry at the sad movies. Those do nothing for me. The ones that get to me are more the overcoming-all-odds triumph type of movies.

Oh my god, yes. Horrible film, but the whole ending is just so sad because you know how much Michael Corleone cares for his daughter, and the way the music fades out and his scream fades in as she lays there dying...and damn you Andy Garcia!

The moment I realized it was a silent scream, oh man it was like a waterfountain let loose from my eyes. That scene is equally brilliant as it is tragic.

I often tear up at triumph-over-whatever, but rarely cry. Case in point the ending of Lord of the Rings when Sam picks up Frodo, I couldn't see the screen for a few seconds but my cheeks stayed dry. :loco:

For some reason I cry at the end of "Land Before Time"; also "Donnie Darko", "Requiem for a Dream" and "Fellowship of the Ring", when Sam jumps into the water to go with Frodo.

There have been several books that damn near made me cry, two that I can think of off hand being "Of Human Bondage" and "The Brothers Karamazov" (the final scene, the little kid's death, and Zoisma's story of his dying brother... although I think most of those were emotional welling-up's of pure emotion, not necessarily sadness or elation).

Movies, so many of them made me cry :
2001: A Space Odyssey, The Two Towers (when Treebeard says "LAST MARCH OF THE ENTS) - Return Of The King (the attack of the Rohirim), I am Sam, Nights Of Cabiria, The Dead Poet's Society, Big Fish, The Passion Of The Christ, 21 Grams, Alphaville, Stalker..and and and

i almost cried first time i watched braveheart during the final torture scene with all the yelling for freedom and the music and what not, great movie.
i also when boo hoo hoo at the end of the first beethoven (the dog) movie as a kid, really emotional stuff

also when i read the two towers i was close to tears when frodo is stung by shelob and sam is devastated with the death of his master :)
another book, part of a swedish trilogy by jan fridegård "trägudars land" (the land of wooden gods) is very sad at the end when the pagan rebel leader meets his end :| sounds pretty cheesy perhaps but it was very sad

Yes, when I first read that, I really did think he was dead and that Sam was going to carry on alone and finish the job.

Once in a while a sappy movie will put tears in my eyes- which i fight back of course, being a man. The last movie I remember crying because of would be Finding Forrester.

I just saw this finally on DVD. Anyone else seen it?

First of all, it felt like Mel Gibson was trying a bit too hard with all the graphic torture, etc. I dunno, I got the sense that anyone would find it difficult to watch just because it was pretty ruthless, regardless of what the subject matter was.

Secondly, the whole anti-semite thing? Oh shit yeah. If I were a Christian, I would feel so much hatred towards the Jews after watching that. It's the same anger you feel, say, towards Nazis after watching Schindlers List.

And no, I did not cry in this movie. I squirmed though. Ech, it was gory. :ill:
