CRYOGEN - Melodic Death Metal from Denver, CO release their new album, Continuum, today (Nov 19th) on Dark Millennium Records.
Continuum is an accumulation of over 3 years of writing that began soon after the release of the bands previous EP, Despara, in 2009. Lyrical content of the album ranges from science and sci-fi themes to technology-associated social issues (e.g. genetically-modified food). The two tracks Rama I / Rama II visit themes from Arthur C Clarke's classic Rama series of books. The band also recorded a cover of the classic Carcass song, Heartwork.
Artwork for Continuum was created by Colin Marks whose work is featured on albums for metal artists such as Whitechapel, Scar Symmetry, Allegaeon, Sylosis, and others. The album was mastered by Alan Douches of West West Side Audio (Nile, Shadows Fall, Between the Buried and Me, The Black Dahlia Murder). Cryogen also includes Allegaeon (Metal Blade Records) guitarist, Greg Burgess, who joined the band in 2012.
The band's sound has been compared to Hypocrisy, Amon Amarth, [older] In Flames, and Carcass.
