Yeah the first CD is considered a Throw Away by the band. Check out Whisper Supremecy

i'm a huge cryptopsy fan. i don't think their first one is a throw away album at all! the first 2 albums are my favorite ones! their 2nd album (none so vile) is one of the best death metal cds of all time.

I have Whisper Supremacy, and while the vocalist sucks (at least they had the sense to can him), the drumming is beyond unbelievable. Hopefully they can continue to develop as songwriters and put out a truly memorable album, something that will result in reactions other than "this is really brutal shit!...uhh is this it?"

if you want more technical stuff with like, hardcore-ish vocals, the best one is whisper supremacy

if you like really good death metal with unhuman vocals, get none so vile (phobophile has gotta be one of my favorite songs of all time)

thanks, i'll check out both of the album sample at century media & see which one i like the most. i'm thinking of checking out nile too, any recommendation which stuff should i go hunt?

for nile, either of their full lengths are really good, but i would say go with their first one "amongst the catacombs of nephren-Ka". i'm sure there's people that'd disagree, but, i dunno, i just think the songs are a bit more memorable on that album.

I'll be honest about what I think of Cryptopsy. Last February, I had had moderate exposure to them (Voice of Unreason, a couple songs from Whisper Supremacy) and was looking forward to their opening for Dimmu Borgir. Well, at the concert they took about 45 minutes to set up, and everyone looked really serious: clearly they knew what they were doing, and my trust for the band was certainly high.

It would be difficult to overestimate my astonishment at what I heard. I was basically treated to an hour of indistinguishable noise in which it was impossible (at least with the acoustics of the auditorium) to hear even a minimal amount of melody. The drumming was earth-shattering, but it did not keep any of the songs from being complete abominations. Add to this the fact that the new vocalist sounds awful, and you could say that there are just about no redeeming features to the Cryptopsy experience, at least in my humble opinion - well, maybe except that they made Dimmu Borgir sound like the best band in the world, in comparison. I've heard quite a lot of bands that were worse - at least technically - opening for someone somewhere, but seeing Cryptopsy live was by far the most shockingly disappointing event I have ever witnessed at a concert. I felt literally insulted by them. Some people may vehemently disagree, but personall, the best recommendation I could give to anyone about this band is to avoid them at all cost.

Well I´ve never seen them live, but Cryptosy is not about being melodic  Lord Worm's era was great, what happened to him, is he singing for another band?

psh, cryptopsy is ace!

to the guy that thought they were bad live, must have just been a bad night i guess! i've seen them 3 times, one of the best bands i've seen live!

as for what happened to lord worm, i hear he teaches an english class now...
