to add to the long list of things i'll never understand why work this way, today i was messing around with drum tracks and moved them into a track folder. after much cursing i finally realized why my drums didnt sound the same as when they werent in a folder... it was playing the bottom most layer of audio events.

to clarify, i recorded a few takes of a song on drums, leaving overlapping audio tracks. once these tracks are moved into a folder, it plays the bottom most one instead of the one on top like im used to cubase doing. anyone know how to fix this?

I don`t know if this changes with the use of a folder, but you should be able to right click the overlapping part and choose the track you want to be played.

Is it folder track or just part?
Never have any problem with creating folder track an moving some other tracks to it.
All tracks in folder track are played. In parts, only the lowest event is playing.

have you gabbed the TRACK (the grey thing on the left) and moved into the folder or just the events ON the track?
if so Cubase might have created a track in the folder for every event you've dragged into it. if you've just gragged the track into it (like you should) everything should stay like it was, the folder doesn't really change anything it's just to tidy up an help you editing, arming etc multiple tracks at once

Really odd...never had that problem. I agree with Lasse, and if you are moving the tracks into the folder then I dunno man, that's just odd. I use the folders all the time, they are a huge convenience and I don't know how I got along without them before. Do you keep all of your recorded takes in the timeline - as in, even the ones you aren't going to keep? I always just delete the take if it's no good, it's as easy as hitting backspace after you stop recording. And if you do it on accident there is always undo, and that take always stays in the audio pool for that project. I see no reason to keep old/bad/whatever takes in the timeline.

its definitely not lanes. after experimenting with it, it seems like somehow certain tracks got corrupted or something because it doesnt do it on every channel in the folder.

if i make a new track within the folder and move all the contents of the other track to the new one, then the events play as normal. if i just select them all and move into the messed up track it does the weird play only bottom layer thing

if i duplicate the bad track it still has the problem, however if i make a new track and save the channel settings then load them on the new track it does not give the new track the problem

really strange
