Dale Resteghini "Prepping for FINLAND'S very own CHILDREN OF BODOM for a song many are calling their biggest and best ever called
'WAS IT WORTH IT' and in the video stars PREMIER SKATEBOARDING CHAMPION CHRIS COLE along with his team for the first ever EXTREME SKATING
meets METAL. This will be an event video not seen in decades!!! LETZ GO!!!"

What the fuck? Am I reading this correct?

They have this guy skateboarding on the new video? And it's their biggest and best song ever, called Was It Worth It? If it's the best COB song ever why such a forgettable name?

He sure seems to like Children Of Bodom and even has ink nails. But the song title is totally not COB and didn't spark anything in me. It's the same title as Are You Dead Yet? only worse. Interesting tho. But their best song ever? Yea, try to top something like Silent Night, Bodom Night with the modern style. I'd love to see that happen.

But who the fuck are the so called "many" people implying this song is CoB's greatest?

The same people who wrote the marketing slogan before that, about perfect storms and shit.

I'm prepared to hail if the album is that good, but fuck... I'll laugh my ass off if they come up with some thrash shit.

I can't help but admit this song title makes me feel insulted. Only way to flip it around is to pull off a Mozart.

Chris Cole with painted fingernails skating on the video of a song called "Was it Worth it?", which is obviously AYDY:ish trash shit, and this is supposed to be "very satanic", black metal-ish or something like that. o_O

Well, I hope this is going to be the "MTV song" of the album and the rest of the songs are actually going to be good. Though I don't really care, this album just had some potential to be at least decent.

COB used to be something like Skandinavian black/death metal with an aura of mythology, later they moved to Yankees and became something very much different. I now fully realize that. They try to maintain some of that mythology with song titles such as Hellhounds On My Trail but even that is just purely symbolic. I think this opens my eyes for the cold truth that's been out there for seven years. But let's see how the rest of the song titles are, and the music.

I never saw that aura of mythology... Anyway, COB used to be a great mix of genres, surely scandinavian black/death but don't forget all the neoclassical stuff. And it was not baroque like YJM does, it was great stuff. Then they breaked in the american market, HCDR was the start of the downfall. That album sounds definitely too much trash, and it tries to give the song a "normal" heavy metal structure. In fact, almost all of the songs "die" before the end. I still hope for the new album.

I'm at a loss trying to describe how wrong this is.

I could be fine with a title like Was it worth it?, albeit not COB-ish in the slilghtest (but then again, Not my funeral and Miss Suicide aren't COB-ish in the slightest either), but skateboarding? Are they for real? Seriously, there's a limit to how "unserious" you can be about your music and I believe COB are getting way past it.

Also, saying that an unreleased song no one has heard but the band is called by many the best song COB have ever made is beyond gay. Last time I checked, effective marketing was supposed to be subtle and hold some credibility.

Hah, you are all cracking me up here.

Saying that the new album will suck just because they are doing a video involving skateboarding is simply fucking ridiculous. If someone had said the video for Everytime I Die would involve Alexi sleeping in a bed and Needled 24/7 including gymnasts and stuntbike racers you probably would have had pretty much the same stupid reaction.

For all we know that skater's only part in the video could be riding down a Norwegian fjord into an icetrap where just happen to lie a hundred ice swords into which he impales himself. Oh wait, that would be fucking awesome. Like he's trying to do the greatest trick ever to get famous, but then fails and asks himself if it was worth it. Gotta mail it to CoB now.

It's just abysmal to know how easy it would be to be more creative.

Then when you think about it, AYDY had as simple title as In Your Face for the single track they said was best. Then they had one of the awesomest names ever for the opening track. I don't think any of the 3 track titles we've heard so far is an opening track or the album title track or the slow song title. Except Miss Suicide could maybe be a slow song.

I don't know why you guys are so supprised about skateboarding stuff?

Alexi always has skate shoes on, we've seen him in a decent amount of photos with skateboards around, so its obvious that he's into it. Same as Roope being into sport bikes. Maybe they will have a song about that???

They write about what they know. What else can we really ask for?

Personally I don't care what the video is like. If it sucks it won't change my mind about the song. It's all about the music in my eyes.

+ 1

Honestly, none of their vids was really impressive or sensational to me, and I don't expect upcoming ones to be. I'm quite happy for them if they managed to get a vid where one of their closer friends does something they (or at least Alexi and some crew members) enjoy doing and thus would enjoy watching themselves - in contrary to the Needled-vid for example  But still, the vid isn't such a big deal, at least to me.

Well that's interesting, because I'm at a loss for trying to describe how stupid all the hate and criticism on this thread is. Are you people serious??

THIS.

What's really sad about this is that we can joke about it, but there would appear to be people commenting to this board who would honestly think that would be metal as fuck.

Well said, Srob. You're the hero of my day.

Yep.

(Old)Newsflash: Many skaters dig metal, and many metallers dig skating - among them, COB. It's not a leap in logic, people.

Videos are by their nature promotional tools and it's incredibly cool any time COB get to work with one of their friends on a new project. For those of you who are unaware: In addition to being one of the best skaters in the world, Chris Cole has also worked tirelessly to help promote this band, as he is a great fan of theirs. By all accounts, the admiration is mutual and I would say that this collaboration is further evidence of that. And little more perspective, if it's necessary - there are parts of the world in which Chris Cole is way better known than COB. Nearly any time they have the opportunity to gain new fans, I'm all for it.

I liked Blooddrunk, but overall their videos haven't had much of an impact on me. I rarely watch MV's anyway: I'm an iPod person, so I just download it and listen. If I catch the video online, or whatever, so be it. But jeez, people, calm your shit down. The hatin'...

I admit 'Was it worth it?' leaves something to be desired and doesn't necessarily sound like a typical COB title...but we haven't heard it yet, so why judge it so harshly? As much as I love COB, their song titles are not exactly the best. 'Punch me I bleed' , 'Towards Dead End' , 'Red Light in my Eyes 1 & 2'.
All kinda lame titles. Who knows, this could be about someone selling their soul to the devil...was it worth it?

As far as the video...Chris Cole is the skater who has those COB skate shoes under his name...obviously a big fan. Maybe they needed someone to play the person who sells their soul to the devil. Maybe a lame skater wants to be the next Tony Hawk, so he strikes a deal.

We don't know shit, so why talk shit?

One thing I'm curious about, what are Not My Funeral and Miss Suicide? Other leaked song titles?

We need more people like you on this forum. The idea is good and that's what they should be doing. Here's hoping, but more likely it's about the basic "drinking too much whiskey and ending up doing stupid shit." Let's wait and see.

A lame skater dude selling his soul to the devil to become the next Tony Hawk

I still have trouble remembering the song title! I'm sure people will end up just calling it Wiwi.

Yep, Alexi revealed them last week.
