possibly all those threads were deleted.
the point is that debating dd as of now
here means two things:
1. a lot of not-so-die-hard fans of the band might just pass by and get a hint of where to find for easy dload the whole (well, almost) new release. while this might not be bad
per se, dloading mp3s without authorization is surely something that - on general principles - the band would frown upon because it increases the chances of some loss in terms of sales. so i would personally find... unpleasant to make great big signs about it in a band's very home.
2. along the same lines, discussions about dd before its release date tend to imply the ppl here is behaving in a way that
might disadvantage the band. i just object to this, the official board, being the place to do anything else but perfectly licit and approved-by-the-band activities (this of course does not imply avoiding criticism and the occasional bloody murder
). i think it is a form of respect towards both the place and the effort the band makes to produce quality music. dt didn't explicitly allowed mp3s to go about freely on p2p software or audiogalaxy and we know for a fact that it might be rather unpleasant to see your work unexpectedly in the hands of everyone so soon. so my reason for waiting a while to mention this topic might be compared to visiting an unexpectedly ill relative and spending a few hours with him/her without mentioning the disease (uh, what a brilliant, stimulating metaphor
). of course it's not the end of the world if this happens, but it really takes so little to just discuss it at will
elsewhere that i just don't get why so many ppl get upset at a kind request of avoiding the issue for now.
and if that thread stays longer than we've come to expect, i guess this is my point.
