Cradle Of Filth’s upcoming album, The Screaming Of The Valkyries, will be released on March 21, 2025, via Napalm Records. Pre-orders can be placed now at this location.
The album has been described as a succinct summation of the ghosts of Cradle Of Filth‘s past while taking bold new steps into the future. And to learn more about what transpired during its creation, Sonic Perspectives contributor Jonathan Smith interviewed COF frontman Dani Filth to uncover a myriad of details, including continuing to work with longtime producer Scott Atkins, as well as the band’s stance on modern streaming platforms. An excerpt has been transcribed as follows:
Dani Filth: “Our modus operandi for this record was to dispense with the idea of a special edition, or bonus tracks that you can only get in Timbuktu, or something like that. You only get what we’ve written, that’s it. This is the ’70s or ’80s. We’ve written a lengthy album, but it’s nine songs. No intro, no outro, no half-way fucking video display of the Super Bowl in the middle. It’s just the album, and it’s a good album. We just wrote it. We wanted nine very strong, catchy tunes. When I was presented with some of the embryonic stages of the tracks, most of them immediately struck up a chord with me. I was like, well, I know what that’s going to be about. ‘Non Omnis Moriar’, I know what that song’s going to be about. So, there’s an overarching theme that unites the tracks, but it isn’t a conceptual record. Everybody thinks we’re going to do a conceptual record every time. We haven’t done one for like 15 years I think. But like King Diamond, everybody thinks that’s our thing.”
The Screaming Of The Valkyries beckons the brave into a new era of Cradle Of Filth misadventure, celebrating massive melancholic melody, blackened thrash, and apocalyptic existential dread with a grinning smattering of unbridled revelry. The Screaming Of The Valkyries is a bloody dark love letter to the longtime legion of Cradle Of Filth faithful and a stunning entryway for fresh lambs to the sonic slaughter.
