looking for a vocal style from the 12th century that hollenthon adds to their music. Except I'm not looking for a band that plays a similar style or even a related genre to hollenthon. While they use other vocal styles, most prevalent being the growly (unoriginal) style. They also have a lot of upbeat moments which tend to diffuse the Gregorian chant's tone.
I need a band that plays extremely somber and melancholic atmospheric type doom such as Warning or RAIN FELL WITHIN. That use this style as their base and mold their music around that vocal style, bringing the emotion and atmosphere it creates to the forefront. Rather than just adding it in only as secondary and filler.
