City beneath the surface
Okay, this thread may get me kicked off the forum, but I have to ask. Is anyone a fan of this guy like I am? I can't help myself, but I really think Chris is talented. I truly enjoy hearing him sing, so I'm looking forward to picking up his debut. Has anyone else bought it yet?

I had no idea Daughtry existed until the other day when I was working with Tuesday's new releases and stumbled across the album. With a sticker on the cover saying "This year's long awaited album!" I figured it would sell well and put it up as a new release spotlight. And since then (as most things) I have seen the album and picture EVERYWHERE! Can't much help you with an opinion considering I still haven't heard it, but Daughtry is surely making rounds in the music world for sure. What does this sound like?

It's Chris Daughtry's band, one of the last contestants in last year's American Idol. The music is mainstream for sure, but it's well done in my opinion. It's very catchy and melodic.

Havent heard it yet but I like that he chose to stick to his guns instead of selling out and joining Fuel, maybe it will turn out to be the better choice for him down the road.

So faaaaaaaaaar away....

I don't remember who sang that song but this guy sounds just like him.

I like the Got Ink? link at the bottom. Adds real credibility.

Let's not forget what this is. Brought to you by Coca Cola and Fox television.:puke:

Sorry but to me his album sounds like every other new metal band out there. Nothing really original about it that catches my ears.

Really like the sound of his voice, but with that said ....it is a very monotone type vocal with little diversity...after a song or two his vocal style coupled with the homogonous music will kinda bore me to slow death. Best comparison...the Hootie album (way back when), a great radio listening song, a great voice with little diversity....and absolutley no way to make it through the album....impossible (sadly I tried).

As much as I liked Chris on "Idol", this was an album that I should have seen coming: An easy-going, middle-of-the-road, take no chances effort that really falls flat on it's face. Sorry, but Chris' Absent Element stuff was light years better than this shlock.

Peace,
Ray C.

This album sold over 300,000 copies in the first week.

By comparison, the Rockstar Supernova album sold a little over 15,000.
