Guitars were ESP Alexi 600 ->Nick Crow 7170 -> Recabinet Impulses
Bass was some POS into B.O.D
Drums are Steven Slate.

Voice is mine :) (recorded through an MXL V67 into my Line6 Toneport UX2) Although don't laugh at the vocals, they aren't done yet.

I am trying to go for that David Bendeth style hard rock mix that sounds full and live. Obviously I can't achieve the same thing since he is way better than I am, but I think I did not too bad?

*If anyone knows this song and wants to contribute some REAL drums to it, that would be AWESOME! :-D*

Here's my mix if it helps...i liked your mix and almost all your riffs were spot on especially those leads...i really didn't care much about that on my mix since i was just aiming for the sound...if i may add, if you notice David Bendeth's mixes...the bass is very noticeable and up front, and the drums are more in your face also...so basically the bass and drums dominate the mix...and try to bring down the room samples a little...there's room in the original mix...but not that much.

diary of jane was mixed by cla, not bendeth.

your mix lacks focus. vocals are too far away,
when the drums came in, it sonded way too static, especially the hihat sounds super fake.

compare the snare sound, it has that typical cla smack, try out some compressors (the real ssl dynamic strip is what cla uses mainly)
i did a cover of thta song too, and its super hard. you will never get the exact same sound.
but its a good excercise. dont get frustrated though, cla is the king ;-)
keep on comparing. listen for kick. compare. adjust. listen for the snare. compare. adjust.

hope that helps.
oh, and i actually liked you singing! ;-)

Wow, how did you get those rhythm guitars? They sound so close to the actual song. The only element of your mix that is off is the vocals, and its not even the performance, just the recording. Good job dude.

I think my mix may be over compressed-limited. It sounds like it's lacking some impact around the drum transients. I'll give it another go when I get home tonight after work.

yeah i know about the vocals...i wanna re-record them, i kinda rushed into them, thus the final result on those vocals...i think i could do a better job, its just practice and patience.
