I hate to post this and it doesn't really serve any purpose as I am a huge fan of VS, even the latest albums, but this live performance from last week is completely abysmal. Shocking how bad he sounds squealing and yelping and not singing properly. The band however sounds really good and on top form but David's voice is almost terrible. Squealing like a cat in heat and changing the vocal lines to suit his yelps. The amazing Greek crowd actually sings far better than him sticking to the original melodies and not changing them round like he does. What a damn shame. I wonder if he can recover somehow or if he's singing like this on purpose somehow to add a new twist to the songs. Either way it sounds painful.

Sometimes, "the dude is 50" is an adequate excuse for me, no questions asked. Male singers can seem to get old overnight like any professional athlete. I can't help but sympathize for middle-aged guys who keep trying in a genre of music often better suited for the range of a prepubescent choir boy. The most naturally talented can hardly seem to lose a step despite smoking, but age takes its toll on most...

But yeah, he sounds like an embattled cat.

He's surely not bad on that one, from October in Spain

He looks quite fit too. The guy didn't take weight with the years, compared to lots of others...

This is laughable; not David's singing, but the criticism based upon a terribly poor recording. Amazes me how you can say his voice is shot based upon these garbage recordings. I just saw him a few months back here in NY and he killed it. That's just his voice; if you call yourself a VS fan, I would think you would know that by now. He constantly goes high pitched live; almost similar to how Eric Adams feels the need to throw grunts out after every verse. It may be annoying, but is certainly not an indication of his inability to sing anymore.

Don't know if it's down to his voice but the singing style has changed over the years. I know he's not a young man anymore but he's not too old either. The first and sadly the only time (probably going to stay that way) they performed in Finland was in 2007 and David sounded quite like the videos above. The gig was pure magic nonetheless but still. When I think about the voice he had (or at least the way he used it) back in the days... oh brother!

The last record is ok. Nothing compared to Marriage -albums, Invictus or Atreus -albums. But it has it's moments. In Bread Of Wickedness David sings like he should.

To be honest I haven't heard a lot of their stuff, but as far as I can tell, he just maybe sounds a little bit horse and or maybe didn't warm up, the rest just sounds like a bad recording and crappy mix. He's using falsetto on the higher stuff maybe because he knows he didn't smooth it all out via warm ups, he's tired, his voice is worn some, or could be dry from alcohol. Could be a lot of things. Shot? I dunno, kinda strong language. He could have sounded great a couple days later. Voice as an instrument I think can tend to be a very sensitive instrument.
