Hi there, I'm new to this forum. For all you David Gilmour (Pink Floyd) fans, he has a new album coming out called "On An Island". There's a contest where you can win a trip to see David live in LA, plus an autographed guitar. Here's the link:

He'll be playing the Floyd classics, plus Rick Wright is joining him on tour.

Here is a link to another contest where you can win a limited edition signed lithograph from David:

Just thought I would let everyone know.

A friend of mine just got it and he says it's great...I trust his opinion , so I'll be picking it up soon :)

but I'm afraid that he's going to sound like a boring, used-up, rich musician.
any of his other solo work has been just that...boring, overdone, dried up shit... but this one is better...not pink floyd better...but better... its very much a culmination of all of his past work, both solo and pink floyd. theres a lot of the "drone-keyboard with guitar solo over it" kinda stuff, a lot of good ambience... and there's also no shortage of blues influence on it.. if you're really zoning out you might think you're listening to a robert johnson record at times...but overall its a decent record...if you do any type of mind-altering substance then its worth getting and zoning out to o_O

I think I gotta agree with you on that one...I love Davids voice, but Roger Waters had great composition skills... But you can't say anything bad about "The Division Bell"...

I heard his 'World Exclusive" interview a few days back.....as well as a few tracks from this album. At age 60, this guy just gets better and better with age. It's insane how good he really is. There is no one that sounds like Gilmour. At the same time, everything he touches sounds like Pink Floyd. It's a double-edged sword.....and a curse!

I wonder if the album title is meant to be interpreted the way I see it... up until the whole pink floyd playing the live 8 thing, if you had asked me "where's David Gilmour?"...the title of this album comes to mind...
