Any one looking for a place to stay for the fest may want to look at the following:

Pretty basic but clean...

If you book on line they have double queen rooms for $79.95 per night and they are will to give an additional 15% discount ($67.96) if you pay for the room up front.

Also if anyone needs info on San Antonio, I am a local, so let me know.
 
Thanks so much for posting this. This hotel is about $50 cheaper a night then the Hampton, I wonder how much more upscale the hampton inn is to this place?

3 of the guys from my band are seriously considering this place just on price.
 
And it is right down the street from the venue and about a 5 minute walk to the Riverwalk, as to the difference between Days Inn and Hampton, The Days Inn are just your basic hotel room without alot of amenities, as the Hampton is kinda upscale like a 2.5 star vereus a 3.5 to 4 star.
In Fact if you click on the above link and look at the picture you can see the Hampton in the background. All the hotels we are using are right together, and within a 5 minute or less walk to the venue.
 
Well, it is your basic motel; it has a pool and the goodies. However, it is pretty clean for a downtown motel. I have stayed at both the Hampton and the Day’s. They are fairly similar; yes the Hampton’s general areas are a little nicer. However, how much time are you going to spend in those? I think you will find that most of the locals will be in the Day’s...

Cool thats good to know, for me and the guitarist we're heading down with family so they might make more use of the nicer hotel. The rest of the guys in the band will be happy with the discounted rate next door.

How is that Mall right next to the hotels, I'm sure the ladies will all want to hit it and hang out for a bit.
 
Red Roofs, Days and Hamptons are all big chains. They tend to be similar wherever you go. RRI and Days are motels- basic room, basic amenities etc. The Hampton is a bit nicer. Breakfast is included in the Hampton.

Most of the time with motels, especially in downtown areas, you often are dealing with an age factor of the building so it's often touch n go. If the Days downtown is nice for the area= awesome.

At this stage of the game the room block is falling off and yall need to get booked and get ready to rock!!!!

The River center mall is nice and has a variety of things to spend money on. One that is pretty cool is the food court area looks out over part of the Riverwalk. There is an area out in front of it that you can sit out and eat. Most days they have an indigenous Mayan group, which plays the authentic instruments and songs. Being a musician myself, I find it to be fascinating. You can also walk directly thru the mall and it will drop you directly at the Alamo, it’s much nicer than walking on the streets. The area we are staying in is at the easten edge of the "turisty" area, and starts to border some the "not so nice" parts a few blocks farther east.

I don’t know the family situation or thier Interests/Ages. However, one item to note in San Antonio is the SA Missions.

Most people just see the Alamo, which is fairly interesting. However, you walk in look around for about (15) min and then leave. Most never even know that the other Missions exist and are just a few minutes away.

If they want to shop they should also look around Southtown. This an area about (5-7) min southwest of the Venue/Hotels. They have converted many of the historical houses, warehouses and artists lofts into shops, galleries and restaurants and bars. They can get there via the Blue Trolley from downtown or the Riverwalk.

There is the above mentioned trolley service that runs all around downtown and can get you just about anywhere, including all of the tourist attractions. Much better than wlaking or driving and pay exhorbinant parking fees.

Thanks once again for the killer info. I definitely want to see the Missions park now just checked it out at Wiki, I'll be shooting lots and lots of pics there. All the other links are very helpful as well, we probably will be trying to hit as much as we can Thurs in the day and early Saturday. I'm sure Friday morning and day my wife will be at the mall and some of the other places you suggested.

If anyone is going to Chicago Powerfest I can give plenty of suggestions as well.

I am personally, not one for shopping....(I know, this is coming from a chick!)...but I love walking around and exploring.
It's been so long since I've been able to take a leisurly stroll outside, since the weather has been crappy since November. Why do I live in Chicago again?
So I'm looking forward to the warm weather and just being outside for sure!

And like Shreddy said, if anyone will be up here for Chicago Powerfest, let us know and we'll give you a list of hot spots.

It looks like Days has jacked thier rates up to 93.92 a night. Here is what I got..
