So I finally swapped the factory pickups out of my Schecter Omen 6 with some overwound passives I found online from GFS. I found this little dude laying dead under the bridge pickup and before I realized what it is/was my initial thoughts were "CRAP!!!" and "TERMITES!!!".
This quickly passed and I decided to bust out the wife's Canon A540 to snap a couple crime scene memoires.
R.I.P.

Suddenly I'm really thankful not to be a great showman who tips his guitar over his head and plays with his teeth. :zombie:

@ Audiophile777: Its a Schecter Diamond Series Omen 6

For what its worth knowing, my first thoughts after plugging in were:
1) Holy Crap these are loud
2) I can now hear pick/string attack on clean without any pre-gain staging
3) Beefy low-end
4) More mid-range clarity
5) tapered high-end (most likely due to being wound at 16k bridge and 12k neck)
6) I cant wait to blast these things at full volume

I was a skeptic at first when I started reading about GFS pups but ultimately when considering I only paid about 70 AUD (40 USD) shipped with insurance, its much more likely I could have wasted that money on a beer buzz that would be long forgotten down the track while I'll now be rocking out harder and louder than before.
These seem very well constructed and have a bit of weight to them which is good in my book... I like knowing that I haven't spent money for flimsy light-weight gear that most like will fall apart.
I wanted to pick up a set of Power Rails or Crunchy Rails at first but I could only stretch my tax check so far, had other gear I needed to buy/replace and in the end I needed better pups and 70 bucks for a matching set was easier on the wallet.

Too bad I would not need the neck pickup, maybe I should get em anyway, can't beat the price if they are good. They look like Dimarzios btw

I feel a tone test coming on...

Check out the Clearance and Discontinued section on GuitarFetish.com for even cheaper pups.

Yeah really funny! :D

I know this sounds cliché but as EMGs are the standard of the forum, could you please tell us in what aspects are they similar/different?

Sorry dudes!!! I dont own a set of EMGs to compare with. I'd love to be able to do a shoot out using the same guitar loaded with 81/85 and then with these overwound hex pups.
Unfortunately the wife is sick and I haven't been able to crank up the jams to test these things out at any more than talking level. Here's hoping for tomorrow

When i first saw the title of this thread my first reaction was "how could there be a dead body under a (guitar) bridge?" Then I thought, "Oh wait, you idiot, this is the off-topic tavern, he probably means like a highway bridge or something not guitar-related", but then low and behold, my initial reaction was more accurate. :goggly:
