Figured I'd post this here since I know some of the ND guys have a 360. I picked up Dead Space yesterday and was blown away. It's fucking scary as hell and gory. I was playing last night with the lights out and the sound system cranked, I almost shit my pants. Any fan of survival horror should pick this up asap. Here's a video review if your not familair with it.

I wanted to go to the store on Tuesday and buy this so bad, but lack of money and not enough free time to play the game kept me from buying it. This game looks absolutely AMAZING. It looks like a Next-Gen Resident Evil.

I have a bunch of video game systems: DS, PSP, Xbox, Xbox 360, PS, etc. ... but I rarely ever play any of them. I bought everyone of them on impulse because all of my friends have them. Games are too expensive, I'd rather buy more Novembers Doom stuff. :)

Farlo are you kidding me? Most of the time all I can find is gargantuan sized ND shirts.

Where's Paul in this thread, I know you got a 360! If you are a fan of horror, or ever played Resident Evil or any Silent Hill games you will instantly love Dead Space.

And yes, Vito...you need to get it. Just make sure you play it with a good sound system with the lights off at night, only way to do it.

The video that plays before main screen in game, fucking AWESOME!@!#

Video games are an interesting topic in my life. For my friends, like music and art are for me, they're their favorite thing and how they spend a lot of their time. It's become a weird social thing too. I see my friends for only a few hours each day but they talk for hours on Xbox live and such. I feel in a way further distanced from my friends than they are with each other because of it. I have an Xbox and XBL but I don't have the same games as them and I'm currently out of money (and future money, which will go to more music) so I can't buy them. Honestly I get quite bored with video games when I play them for more than a half an hour.

Another weird thing is that I'll probably, when I'm more dependent on money, get a job doing concept art or something like that in the video games industry. I love doing album art but work is VERY hard to come by and it doesn't pay well at all. I feel that the entire world is just too entertained... and I'd like to not contribute so much to that mindless entertainment, yet I need to in order to support myself/family. I myself feel the need to connect more with my "entertainment". Art and Music are both ways of self expression.

Is the control system gay like Resident Evil (where you have to stand still and shoot, and aim slowly) or is it more action oriented like say, Halo?

It plays more like Gears of War than anything I can think of. Same over the shoulder view, and you can shoot while moving. Although a little slower paced, the firefights are brutal.

:zombie:I plan on getting Dead Space too...I bought Saints Row 2 today....it's not better than GTA4...but it's still fun.....And Opeth is on one of the radiostations:Smokin:

I think my core issue with the X360 and PS3 is I'm not a "modern" gamer. Graphics and sound are very nice to have but mean nothing to me without solid gameplay and intuitive, non-evil controls. Then there's the immersion issue. You guys might be awesome teammates to have but me... I get a text message in the middle of a game and sit there gossipping like a school girl for an hour then realize the cats need to be fed, decide to clean the kitchen, throw on a load of laundry, call my brother and ask after his foster kid, then shake my head while passing through the living room about three hours down the line and go "how long has this damned console been on" before powering it down. And that's on weekends when I play for more than the 15-20 minutes my dinner needs to heat up.

Besides that, being all "old school" when surrounded by nerds is pretty handy. Some of them live with lady friends. Having old consoles with 50+ games, 4 controller rigs, and a couple odd gadgets that never see any use can become a real issue. So I've scored "extended loans (see also: system will only leave if I refuse to have friends over to play and stop stocking beer)" on a good 7 or 9 systems (depending how you count the Genesis expansions).

That said... if anyone is ever in Massachusetts and wants to take part in a drunken Duck Hunt tourney, drop me a line!
