My vocal hates pop filter
he can give his best take by holding the mic
he was influenced by Randy blythe (Lamb of god) -___-

Well now im facing some problems... i got this huge Boom Boom waveform
which i cannot control.. if i normalize it im loosing the word in the song..
and i cannot put any effects in it.. its making things worse

so how would i control the boom thats coming from the planet arse!!

Thank you guys

Sing somewhat across the capsule not directly into it. By directing the air from the vocal across the capsule on an angle you can control the boom.

That, singing technique has a lot to do with it. If he really feels like singing in the mic, try with a SM7, but other than that if the guy just blows inside the mic capsule there is not much you can do. That's what pop filter and singing technique are for !

I record my own screaming vocals with an sm57 held in my hand. The trick is to learn when you are going to make a 'plosive' sound, and then angle the mic slightly to the side. I also move the mic closer and farther depending on how loud i am screaming. It takes a little getting used to but all in all its not that bad to do.

Here is an example of a song from my band where my vocals were recorded with an sm57. (Its an old mix so its not that good) There is very mild vocal bus compression and slight eq if i remember correctly.

Nice track mate
cool mixing too
i love that kind of mid scooped mix

Mashreef, the boom you are experiencing is an overload on your microphone. Too much SPL.

you can't digitally manipulate that sort of situation. You need to re track it.

Sorry bud :(

i sort of doubt that...most mics have max SPL's of at least 125db. i don't know a lot of people who can scream, sing, or make any other noise that loud. i would find it more likely that the peaks created by the low end in the plosives is making the preamp clip than the mic itself farting out.

Ok. Since your the professional, guide him then. And if you can prove me wrong. Please provide the clip. Because Iv been doing this for 20 years.
