Demonica - Demonstrous

Vicious Robbie

Faithful Neon Dreamer
Legendary guitarrist Hank Sherman decides to give thrash a go and delivers the debut from his new band Demonica. Assisted by very competent musicians(including Craig Locicero and Mark Hernandez of Forbidden) Hank decides to forge 10 fast and brutal tracks for our listening pleasure. Does it work? Unfortunately, not. The problem lies in the songwriting courtesy of Sherman which sounds a bit naive. What do I mean by this? The album is packed with some good riffs but it seems as if Hank used the first one that came to him on every song and just went along with it. The worst example of this is the closer instrumental Astronomica, that simply does not seem to go anywhere. There is potential though, especially in track two, Ghost Hunt, easily the best song of the bunch. For the thrash addicts out there, give it a listen before you buy it. I'll cut Hank some slack though, being this his debut album in the genre. At least I liked it more than what he has done with Force of Evil. Oh yeah and the lyrics...cheesy. :p:p:p

Have been listening to this a week or so and I like it. A little bit too Slayer-ish, but there's a bunch of power on this disk !

Some good solid thrash done the right way. Many of the young thrash bands could learn from these guys. Excellent release!
