Derek!!

Yep, Edinburgh has some of the most popular and respected festivals in the world. Every year the city is packed and not only do the best acts in music, comedy and theatre all end up here, the bars stay open till 6am too! :)

To an extent, yep. I like most of it, hell I was raised by Jimmy Shand and his band on the wireless!

I'm not sure about Carlin, Will. Edinburgh has one of the most respected comedy festivals in the world though, so I'm sure many American acts have frequented the venues.

Yep, it's huge. The whole city just comes alive during the summer festivals. It's a wonderful place to live usually, but when it's packed with visitors, and there are 100 or 1000s of shows to go to it just flat oot rocks.

Ha, good stuff. In that case, if you're at all interested, we the Gizzen Briggs - a large folk ensemble - are playing a few dates around Scotland, including one in Edinburgh, on Tuesday the 26th (I think) of June. Initially, it was said to be at The Royal School For The Blind which would be open to members of the public, but we've since been informed that they couldn't accommodate us..or something. I'll get back to you on where it's been relocated, should you feel like attending.

Cool. Will do. By the way, Megadave and his band of merry men are playing the Barrowlands in June also (can't remember when just now), in case you didn't know.

Understandable. I'm not really expecting much from his latest album (especially on the lyrical front). But live gigs, especially metal shows, in the Barrowlands are always a good thing. Fair enough, though.

I met one gentleman and two ladies that have changed my life. I felt less and less motivated and charged by the metal I listen to. Simple as that. :)

Interesting. It would indicate some sort of resonance element to your mindset has been changed, thusly taking away the primary appeal of the music. It's something I can relate to in part. But as much as I have to bounce between a myriad types of music, my appreciation doesn't seem to diminish, just shift.
