I know there are fans of the show here... with the release of Dethalbum fast approaching it has, of course, been leaked. Thoughts?

I don't really know what i was expecting from this, but it was a bit more than this. Sure the music on the show is killer, but in song-length context it just doesn't work.

First of all, there's a LOT of variation in the vocals, from good to bad. I don't just mean growling style, but actual sonic quality (though that could just be the rip of the disc i downloaded... i'm willing to overlook this for now until i get a copy of the disc) Also, the songs themselves try to be too ambitious, adding way too many elements of power metal into death metal songs. They would have been better off writing a death metal song, then a very melodic song, etc. This just comes out as a clusterfuck. No one wants to hear a dark chunky death metal tune (Mermaider) with fucking power metal harmonies. Or maybe they do, it just sounds out of place to me.

It's a bit disappointing that this project which actually had some promise as a great gimmick/cross promotion turned out just coming off as a big joke. I appreciate it for what it is, but there was a lot more potential here than they accomplished. I mean, they had Gene fucken Hoglan on drums... how do you fuck that one up?

It's definitely not all bad, has its moments, some enjoyable riffs but not a good album as a whole. I'm sure i'll still buy it when i find it in the used bin.

Personally I love it. I've been waiting forever for this effing album and it's finally out.

Lyrics are brutal, guitar is brutal...it's just a brutal album in general IMO.

If you halfway liked the show and the music in it, get this album. You shouldn't be disappointed.

ken, ret... the show is hilarious... and crush my battle opponents balls is the most brutal and dark to ever grace the planet.
