Devin live now at toontrack

Dude, thanks, I'm discovering that guy despite the bad audio, on low volume while doing calculus maths before an exam (best way to listen to music). Yeah, I lsitened to "deconstruction" like 2 years ago and it sucked, but right now, well that's lovely.

Man what a bummer on the quality of the stream (audio).

I'm on a 50/50 connection.

Fuck this mono stream. I know PAs are setup for mono, but for fuck sake setup a stereo mic in the back so I can get a sense of space. Listening to a live stream like this blows.

I agree the quality wasn't that great. That PA was probably stereo, but even then all audio should be split to broadcast where they can process it however they want, usually stereo. Three way split to FOH / Monitors / Broadcast is common.

I find probably 80% or so of all broadcast concerts I see sound like junk. It's so frustrating because I know it can be better, I do stereo mix outs to recorders for bands sometimes of my monitor console and have even done it myself and it typically sounds pretty good even though I'm hardly processing anything beyond channel eq/comp....

It sounded like ass because I'm guessing the mix was done for the crowd and they just picked it for the stream. In the very beginning the guitars were so low and the keyboardist (it's a new btw, i didn't know he hired a keyboardist) so high I thought it was a joke ! I joined late and they were in fact rushing balance before the concert.

How was it by the way ? Because I fell asleep after a few songs, it was 6 in the morning here and I was back from a party :p

@plendakor : it all depends on tastes because devin never does twice the same album, but IMO you should definitely listen to Ocean Machine. All in this album is crazily good, from the sound to the songwriting ! I think vai himself called it the best "progressive album of all times" or something like that. And I would almost agree with him, it's a wonderful, wonderful album. I personally love Synchestra, and some gems here and there like Truth, Juular, Supercrush!, Deadhead, Kingdom, Terminal, By Your Command, and Unity etc. These songs are all incredible in their own ways.

I think they do, with an extra mic somewhere in the crowd or up in the air, but it sounded quite bad. FOH mix and ITB studio mix must be too different, I'm no specialist but that would be my guess
