Devourment- New Album Teaser

For you guys who haven't seen it yet, Devourment just released this on their Facebook page. The new album won't be released until winter 2013....Don't know if that's early in the year or late....Still though, I can't fuckin' wait.

I'm like 99% sure the band reposted something they put up a while ago. Because I swear I've seen this go-nowhere teaser already.

Good catch. Maybe things are starting to come together for the album (?) After I posted this, they mentioned in a comment on their Facebook that "winter of 2013 is only a couple of months away". So it looks like it will be here sooner than later. Hopefully.

I'm hoping! They said they did the tracking in like two weeks, and honestly I think Unleash the Carnivore is their best album, so I got HIGH hopes for this mofo!

I thought MtD was just too unrefined. Unleash was so goddamn beastly, and I can only imagine what they've got in store for this one.

The whole point of MtD is unrefinement. It would not have inspired so many other bands if it hadn't been so murky, filthy, and perverted. It just fit the music, unnrestrained and chaotic. BtW was a it cleaner of production, and it works well for itself. It sounds absolutely crushing. And honestly, I haven't listed much to UtC as much as I would like.

Unrefined? What do you mean?

Some of the production just takes away the punch of it. The snare drum has ZERO power to it, it's this thin little "pip" sound that bothers the crap outta me. Things like that. The songwriting was probably better, but it ended up sounding a little too "basement" for me.

Dirty, raw production can work sometimes, but this isn't powerviolence or black metal. It needs heft, and to my ears it wasn't there. Turned up ULTRA loud it was better, obviously, but just not what I woulda liked.
