DI Question Country Man 85

Hey guys. My DI should arrive this afternoon and I'm wondering the best way to hook it up. Should I bypass my Interfaces pre-amps (M-Audio Fast Track Ultra) and then use an ITB preamp model? Wondering if there is a typical routing scheme for those with lower end cards.

Well you HAVE to use your interface pre in order for the signal to get hot enough to where your DAW will see it. ITB preamp sims are usually used for adding a certain color or character to a signal, not for amplifying it into your DAW

Thanks for your quick reply! I was unsure of the output of the DI. I have active pups and isn't the 85 an active DI? guess I should look into that!

right, so you would have to use your preamp for phantom power anyways unless you're using a 9v in the 85, there was already a thread about this and interface preamps do not add much color to a DI signal; there have been dudes on this forum that have done great guitar tones recording into a 2channel interface just like what you have
