Di'Anno in trouble again!?!?

If he's out asking for govt' handouts - I take it he's doing pretty lousy on the music residual royalties thing.

I don't know how it is in the UK, but artists in the old days signed their life away with their record contracts. So years later, their albums could still sell like pancakes and they receive nothing.

Claiming disability and posting youtube videos shows he's not exaclty the sharpest tool in the shed.

Chances of him being jailed are slim.
Its more likely they will ask him to simply pay the money back.

In his favour is the court case recently of a woman local to me who failed to tell the DWP that her partner had moved in, she "Stole" £50,000 and was ordered to pay it back at a rate that will take over 100 years!!!!

But then our legal system is so corrupt, it will probably jail him and let the next person to appear.....probably and immigrant.....off scott free.

Perhaps they may be willing to have him use his celebrity status to benefit a charity or a good cause..in addition to paying the money back, of course. That's typically what they do here in the states if someone is famous. It costs taxpayers money to put people in jail so it seems everyone would be better off if they just let Paul pay the money back in addition to doing some sort of social service.

thats a possibility and a good suggestion, but we have a huge problem with people cheating the benefits system.

I'm like Jenna, he can do more out of prison, but he deserves to be sent down for this. He must have known he would be caught which makes it all the more stupid.

If he simply pays it back - there is no punishment. There is no incentive to not cheat the govt - because the worst that would happen is, you simply have to pay it back.

So he has to be punished somehow. Depends on his assets/income. If he has none, then he does jail time. If he does - then he has to pay a huge fine. Depends on the judge.

Since he's stealing from the government, I doubt he has much money. Maybe he can borrow from Maiden :)

Remember we live (in the UK) in a country that is screwed over by the European human rights bill.

The same bill that now says its OK for Paedophiles and rapists to remove themsleves from the sex offenders register!

If he gets a conviction for fraud they will deem that enough in our liberal society. Personally I'd have him publically flogged! Uhmm no Birched, its more English :heh:
