I'm looking to build some diffusor gobo's, similar to what this guy did:

I'll be mainly using the diffusor gobo's in a medium sized drum tracking room which already has a couple of poly diffusors on the back wall, but I'm not sure whether to go for the same HOFA diffusors as in the picture, or try products from RPG or GIK. Here are the 3 products I'm looking at:

http://www.gikacoustics.co.uk/versi...4-per-box-11000-exc-vat13200-inc-vat-15-p.asp

The RPG Skyline's are the only one's that supply test result data that show diffusion coefficient figures. But I know that GIK are a very reputable company so not sure which to go for. Price wise, they're all very very similar.

So has anyone used any of these products and can lend their opinion/advice?

I have a whole carton of those varifusors lying around...never even unpacked it.
I bet they're great, but those styrofoam shit just looks cheap as fuck, no way I'm putting that on my walls.

I have a 6-pack from Vicoustic that I got cheap and I think you can paint them, but I haven't bothered with it yet.
Have to do some re-positioning here first.

At a guess, I think that wooden diffusors would work best with gobos, as they probably will be more durable.
The EPS ones that I have seem ok, but already they've flaked/bent a bit around the edges; seems to have gotten a few bumps in transit.

thanks for the advice guys! and cheers for the quick responses....i posted a similar thread over at gearslutz and no-one has replied.....you guys are on the ball!! i fucking love UM! \m/

i agree that the styrofoam stuff looks pretty nasty in comparison to wood. fair point!

also, i hadn't really given durability a thought....so i reckon you're right....wooden diffusors will most likely be much more suitable considering they'll be moved around a lot.

would LOVE some of those GIK QRD's but I can't get them here in the UK. They do the Q7D's but they're £320 each inc vat/del. a bit out of my price range really. I could get 8 of those HOFA diffusors for about the same price which would allow me to make 2 3.5ft x 3.5ft gobo's.

so i think that settles it....unless anyone on gearslutz suggests the HOFA's aren't any good then I'll be going for 8 of those badboys.

cheers for the help guys!
