Dio - Donington 83/87

I have the entire Dio back catalogue on my hard drive.

Loved him when he was fronting Blackmore's Rainbow back in the early days.

Was brought up in the 70's listening to Deep Purple and when Blackmore formed Rainbow in the mid 70's with Ronnie as his front man was totally blown away with tracks like Man on the Silver Mountain, Stargazer, Light in the Black etc.

Ronnie's vocal range was immense.

RIP Ronnie James a little guy with a huge voice.

think i might get this. looks pretty cool

i won't turn this into a bash ronnie or who is a better vocalist but there a at least 5 singers i can name off the top of my head with a bigger range than ronnie (tate, halford, michael sweet, chris cornell, mike from steelheart). all of those guys have 4 octaves and i think dio just 3. now that being said the thing about dio was the fact at 65 he was able to keep his voice in top shape where most of those guys have lost a bit due to abuse of their voice. thats what made dio so great

It's a cool set guys it's worth picking up. I had the opportunity to interview Dave "Rock" Feinsien he was promoting his upcoming record Bitten By The Beast which features "Metal Will Never Die" with RJD on vocals. It's a good track. Don't forget the Heaven & Hell CD and DVD @ Wacken coming soon too...

Dio's 1st live show was at the Concert Barn in Antioch, Ca. I was there.

I have a magazine that came out after the show called Steel Meel. There is an interview of RJD in the mag. where Ronnie says he is 33 years old. Based off that I always I assumed Ronnie had knocked 10 years off his age & born in 1940.

Rough Cutt opened w/Craig Goldy on guitar.
