Disc golf

I know it's annoyingly trendy, and one could argue it's a douchebag sport, but is anyone else into this past-time activity?

I live right in front of a nice 9-hole course, so I thought I'd pick up a couple of discs and try it out. I got immediately hooked I bought my first discs a week ago on Monday and save for one day I've spent an average of five hours a day on the course. I love it because it's rather slow-paced and relaxing, and still you can easily end up walking 8km or so without even noticing it.

It's also the perfect sport for a gear wanker AE, since there are loads of discs that all have different characteristics and cool names I started out with a Ching three-disc starter pack to try it out but quickly bought an Innova DX Aviar putter and Champion Valkyrie driver. The Aviar didn't quite fit in my hand, so now I got myself a Discraft Soft Magnet Pro-D putter, which I find a lot easier. I also managed to send my Valkyrie diving into the lake that lies next to the course, so I had to get something to replace it and ended up with an Innova Star Archon, which feels perfect for me at this stage.

Haha, I know, but look at it this way:

1) Take regular golf
2) Remove the dress code and attitude
3) Combine with beer
4) Profit!

Disc Golf? I've googled to know wtf it is. Didn't know about it.

Well, if you say it is relaxing and you walk 8 km... then it must be good.

Me and some friends are gonna play golf for the first time in a couple of weeks.

You know regular golf usually involves lots of drinking, smoking, and gambling too incase you need some more vice. Bowling is also great for a sport were you can get plastered at the same time.

I used to have a buddy that loved disc golf. Part for the game and part for the massive substance abuse that he and his team mates would partake in during the games.

I have played it some before too. It does look stupid but is really addictive and fun. It's great because you can play it with chicks too, where most girls don't like real golf.

Pretty neat if you ask me. Not what I'd dedicate my sporting life too, but it seems it could offer some hours of unconventional fun. Would try it out if a course was set up in my country.

It's cool man, I have engaged in some disc golf in my time. It's a good drunk sport to play with friends. Nothing like having someone lost in the woods for an hour looking for their disc.

I'm really, really surprised that I haven't heard of this game, especially seeing as I live on a predominately white, upper-middle class American college campus.

Disk golf is THE shit. Fun as fuck, leisurely sport that lets you get out but not do anything strenuous although if you are out of shape you will be sore from throwing the disk for 9 to 18 rounds.

I have a 18 hole course near my house, haven't been in years and our collection of disks have been just sitting in the garage. Its about that time of year to actually get out there and play.
