Disney boots Nightwish

That seems like a pretty hefty slap in the face to poor ole Tuomas. The guy writes a song in tribute to Walt Disney and he can't even get his concert there (though i am sure no one in charge of these decisions of aware of that fact, or would even care).

Hopefully he doesn't take it at all personally and just chalks it up to general ignorance about the fact that not everything under the "metal" umbrella attracts the same caliber of concert-goer. Most Nightwish fans are decent, intelligent people (barring an exception or two that you older OSAers will remember ;) ) who aren't going to concerts to be trouble.

Let's just hope that he still will manage to find SOME time to stop in at Disney.. assuming that was part of his plan in the first place.

OK, what's even more messed up is the fact that a lot of these bands that they're deciding to boot NOW have already played there! Lamb of God got booted from HoB in Orlando earlier this year, but were playing there years ago! Same with Machine Head. But seriously, you know how it is, one Disney Park Goer with their kids walks by the venue, hears angry music inside they don't like and goes and complains to whoever works for Disney that will listen. These venues are literally on the main concourses of Downtown Disney and you can hear pretty much the entire concert from outside, I'm sure all it was was an errant "FUCK" to whisper by the ears of a park goer with their kids and they just went off. Or probably less, probably some growly band was in there and the tourist who didn't pay a ticket for the concert was just walking by and got all heated over it for no reason. Thanks to probably one or two people, metal fans all around the Orlando and Anaheim areas are screwed.

Overall, I blame the jerkoff who went and whined to Disney management more than I do the people at Disney. I know because I went through the same thing working for Best Buy. Once in our promo music we had a metal mix with Lamb of God, Killswitch Engage, Iced Earth and others that was put over the loudspeaker by the company and the entire company had to pull it because some customer in one store complained about the music. I'm sure if it wasn't for some loudmouthed, ignorant tourist who walked by the venue and heard loud music for 10 seconds, none of this would be an issue.

What is it with all this "political correctness"-thing we see in English-speaking countries? I mean, why saying an f-word or writing on msg-board like this would insult some occasional listener/reader?
I'm not to word for using bad language in general, but hearing a such from total unknown person who doesn't direct it to yourself - who cares. Not me, and none I know. Maybe it is a cultural thing?

Anyways, to the Disney-people responsibe for this: :puke:

Metal --> :headbang:

.

Because whenever someone here doesn't like something, they run to a lawyer and sue for damages :p Because people are fucking retarded and don't want to take responsibility for their own lives (if you're offended, don't read it/listen to it! how hard is that?!) :err:

I just talked to Pixel from the Nightwish board, and she says she called both HoB in Anaheim and the Galaxy in Santa Ana, and neither of them were aware of this "change" in venue.

But honestly, if this turns out to be true, this is fantastic news for me. I love the Galaxy, it's an awesome venue. I saw Stratovarius there two years ago and it was an incredible show. Plus, they're not uptight about taking live pictures like HoB is!

OK, the reason HoB dropped Nightwish from Disney in Orlando is that they booked Fuel for the same place. Seeine that Fuel is the bigger draw, they moved Nightwish to the smaller arena. I think what may have happened in the case of Anaheim is that someone tipped off Disney execs that Tuomas virtually worship at the House of Mouse, so Anaheim is probably spared.

Honestly, Disney is just also revamping the types of entertainment that perform within their property. 95% of the people that visit their theme parks really could care less if Nightwish, Lamb of God, Machine Head, or any other metal band is performing there.

I think it has less to do with persecuting metal music and more to do with Disney trying to obtain entertainment that the majority of its patrons would like to see while on their property.

Problem is, HoB really is NOT Disney's. If Disney REALLY wanted to do this, why not just boot HoB? They can use Plaza Gardens for Hannah Montana and whoever else in Anaheim. They could build a similar facility in Orlando. The reality is that when they let HoB into Disney, they KNEW what they would be getting in relavance to acts.

I wonder if these venues realize how much money they're *losing* by doing this? I'm not sure how the setup is in Orlando, but at Anaheim, the HoB is located inside of the Downtown Disney area, meaning it's located in a sort of shopping center where you can buy all sorts of Disney stuff, eat at restaurants, basically standard tourist traps. And as much as Disney charges for everything, I'm sure that every person that attends the show spends their money there in one way or another; whether it's for parking, eating, buying souvenirs, etc. It seems a bad business move to turn away any potential customers, but then again, I'm sure Disney is not feeling that much of a loss.
