does anybody in here like arcturus?

Yes, i used to listen some black metal bands, and Arcturus is oneof which i still sometimes listen. (They are not only black indeed, some symphonic operic progressive metal may be :) )I haven't listened their 2005 release yet, but will get it soon. As i 've heard it is killer...

Their newest release, Sideshow Symphonies, is pretty cool. It's definitely different than their previous albums, and I think the change is good. I think most people who like metal will find it enjoyable, as for me, I love it, and I can't wait to hear the new Adagio album.

because i wanna know if there pretty good for some atmospheric metal

atmospheric? they are most definately that.. sham mirrors is the best stuff I have heard out of them. I dont know if you would like it, but some ex-arcturus members joined a band called Winds which isnt bad.. its a bit basic but very nice stuff if youre not too much of a metal snob (as I am mostly :D)

as for Sideshow Symphonies, never heard it but would like to.. sounds interesting..

Arcturus is great!!! Though reviews of their new album aren't very good... I havent heard it yet. 'Sham Mirrors' is a masterpiece.

Everyone is praising The Sham Mirrors... But IMO Aspera Hiems Simfonia is so much better, and still one of my favourite all-time cds.
But yes about his new "direction" TSM is still a very good album. I like this operatic and theatrical choirs they use to have. The new album, Sideshow Symphonies, at first is a bit of a let down, specially the new vocalist (the previous one was superb), but when you have used to it, I think it's better than TSM.

Favourites: Du Nordavind (AHS), Nightmare Heaven (TSM), White Noise Monster (SS)

Winds is awesome but I would far from call them "basic." Also some of the best lyrics I have ever read.

I think Simen (Arcturus' new vocalist) is an incredible singer, listen to a song called "Colossus" by Borknagar.
a funny fact is that Garm (previous singer of Arcturus) also sung in Borknagar before Simen took over vocal duties.

I still think it's nowhere near as good as La Masquerade and TSM, but it's in no way a bad album (though a few songs do almost nothing for me), lots of great instrumental breaks and Simen's performances are excellent, especially on Nocturnal Vision Revisited...
