Does anybody use a Mac Pro?

It's way easier to upgrade a PC laptop than it is a macbook, no argument about that. With a macbook you can pretty much only upgrade ram. I don't even know if you can send it in to have them upgrade it. You can do a lot more with a PC laptop. My sister actually studies computer engineering and she builds laptops part time, she can pick those suckers apart and put in new shit with very few limits

Never seen a big hardware update on a notebook apart the ram change. I mean, if you have an old laptop what should you have to update? Ram and what? If it has 2 years probably the new components use a different socket,etc...
And said that, after 2 years you can buy a new laptop for 500€, way better than the old one.

I'm only on a lowly 2GHz Dual core macbook here. Upgraded the RAM and hard drive recently but it's ok for my needs. Tends to get upset if I have a full mix going and start adding multiband comps etc to the master bus, but that's with about 50 tracks and still triggering my drum samples in real time from trigger.

When I get my own studio I'll definitely be getting a Mac Pro. Probably just the cheapest one mind you as I doubt I'll need something crazy powerful.

Either way I mean it seems the best way to do it is to build your own CPU. I mean you can build a sick one for like 700 bones, and upgrade it whenever. If I wasn't such a stubborn Mac user that's what I would do
