I know attack attack used it, as well as parkway drive and a couple other bands i've seen in their studio videos that i cant remember but its always for the scream vocals.

For screams/growls and metal its as common as a sm57 on a mesa cab

I recorded my screams on an SM58 beta once. Didn't like the sound. Could also be cause I suck at recording though, but my loud powerful screams sounded sorta weak.

Sm7b and you're done.
It's the only vocal mic I have as of now, and it works just fine.
Hell, Michael Jackson used it on the Thriller album, so I'm more than certain it will suffice for singing vox too. James Hetfield used it too for St. Awful
