Does thrash metal have melody?

Most thrash uses at least some melody. Quite alot of bands use it alot. However there are examples where bands almost never uses it and focuses everything on the rythm. These are in the minority though.

Forbidden (first two albums but more Twisted Into Form), Despair (last two albums), and Artillery's By Inheritance epitomize melodic thrash metal to me.

Legitimately amelodic music is rare. Nearly all thrash has melody, we just refer to them as riffs. It's the same thing. In thrash melodies are often broken up by palm-muted root notes. That article was poorly written.

I know the thrash metal I listen to has plenty of melody. It's usually just a bit fast and sometimes rough. Lots of outside listeners are quick to deem something has no melody when they don't like the particular sound of it. Try listening to artists like Slayer, Megadeth, Anthrax, Kreator and Death Angel.
