Dokken-Japan Live '95(DVD)
Sanctuary Records

Dokken's current label put together this dvd in 2003, in hopes to cash in on what once was. On the back of the DVD case there's a caption that reads
"Dokken is captured live in their prime. As they take on Japan in this full throttle electric performance!" Hold the presses! Dokken's "prime" was in '88 when the toured behind "Back for the Attack." While this is the same line up that recorded "Back...," this is a different band. There is very little chemistry between Don & George Lynch. In fact, they only stand on the same side of the stage a pair of times. You can sense the friction. One part of this concert that stands out is when Don is singing "Alone Again" with Jeff Pilson on piano. Clearly Don is waiting for George to fire up the axe & shred into the "emotional" portion of the track. Don looks back several times & you can see that he is having a meltdown. Eventually George & Mick Brown join in, but you can see the damage was done.
On this setlist Dokken tear through the "classics" & Mick & Jeff do their best to hold down the fort. This 16 track DVD also features the "trailer" for the "Live from the Sun" DVD as well, as "Paris is Burning" from that DVD, there's also a picture gallery & an acoustic version of "Dream Warriors."
While, even a subpar performance from Dokken is enough to satisfy "some" fans of hard rock from that era, I would only buy this or recommend it if you're hardcore fan.
