Just managed to catch the last song of Blitzkrieg's set, which was perhaps not entirely surprisingly 'Blitzkrieg'...and well, they are what they are. Seemed to play that song a bit faster than they used to (or Metallica used to!) which kinda spoiled the riff a bit, but never mind. The singer still got a good voice, although he's a bit portly to be wearing a white t-shirt, and the lead guitarist was shreddin' like a sonofabitch.
Like many a 30-something (nearly 40-something!) I have a soft spot for Doro. She's just absolutely gorgeous, and so warm and smiley...and genuinely appreciative to play for 200 people in a half empty club. She seems to realise that most people here are about my age (and some much older) and the set is probably 3/4 made up of Warlock songs.
All We Are, Burning the Witches, Metal Racer, Fur Immer, Metal Tango, Earthshaker Rock, Hellbound, True as Steel, I Rule the Ruins all got an airing and alongside maybe 4 or 5 newer tracks that I'm not familiar with the set was rounded out with a cover of Kiss' 'Only You' from The Elder.
I have to say that while very enthusiastic, Doro's band don't seem to be all that hot musically. The Warlock songs sounded fine, but the more recent songs sound a bit lumpen, like they are being played too slow for comfort. The one exception to that was the drummer who played his ass off even though his drums were sparkly and completely gay.
