Any good excersises to do slow mid tempo solid doubles for a long time.
I usually get really fucking tired after a while and cannot keep it consistent.
I can play pretty fast doubles, but want to learn how to play more solid stuff in the mid tempo range, similiar to the older Absu material or say Candlemass Epicus, Doomicus, Metallicus tempo's.

Any help or recommendations would be insanely appreciated.
:kickass:

i know that this is overused advice and everyone will say it but... practice. you're probably getting tired with the slow to mid tempo because people tend to be much heavier footed for that because you're using much more leg power. so my advice would be to practice, practice, practice and try being a little bit lighter footed

Richard Christy, the drummer for Death, used to wear ankle weights while drumming. Builds those leg muscles up. He was doing a lot of blast beats. I'm sure it helps for any double bass style.

Keep it simple, grab a metronome and practice singles at a comfortable tempo for extended periods of time with your feet and hands, like 20 - 30 mins a day. Focus on staying relaxed and being as solid as possible, this will ingrain the motions into your limbs.

Ankle weights may work for some drummers, but the general consensus amongst the drumming community is that they are a bad idea. Drumming is not strength based, if it was then an Olympic runner would slay at double bass, but they won't, they'll be just as bad as anybody else playing double bass for the first time. Drumming is motion based, when you practice your ingraining the motions into your limbs and nervous system, the more you practice the more efficient your body becomes at performing those motions.

Anywho if you want some more detailed answers, check out the drummerworld forums (link in my sig), derek roddy and loads of other professional drummers post there regularly.
