I just caught wind of this guitarist Andy Wood. He plays in Down From Up, but is probably better known for winning guitarmegeddon. After checking out their album, man is this thing loud its hard to get past the mastering. I don't really hear it distorting hard, but man, its so loud that just listening to the album is uncomfortable. I threw it in reaper, and it looks like like it is cookin at around -6.5 or -7 RMS (I don't have wavelab on this to verify, so that's a ballpark estimate). Weird thing is the drums are still punchy as well, which makes it all that more too-in-your-face.

Either way, this kid is a fresh young guitarist. His solo album is ripping full of Guthrie influence. For a kid with an emo haircut, kid can play chickin pickin bluegrass and roll right into some sweep picking.
