Down III (unexpected gem!)

I wasn't a huge fan of the debut by Down as i find it quite boring. After reading the many positive words regarding the new Down album, I gave in and bought it. THANKFULLY I did.....great record. The 'dullness' of the debut is a thing of the past! Each of these songs slays...great heavy, doomy, swamp-Sabbathy vibe!!!

This might eventually qualify for record of the year. And Anselmo actually sounds good here!

I listened to samples on iTunes the other day, and was surprised at how impressed I was. I will get it before too long. I didn't care for the other stuff either.

I did. Again. I’ve spun the debut three times over the past 48 hours and it still fails to excite me. I will, however, seek out the second release!

Hmmmm.... I didn't care for the second album, I'll be curious about what you think about that particular album....

I'll definetly be getting this album. A lot of the albums that don't get very favorable reactions end up being the ones I like the most anyway.

Agree. I've never been able to get into NOLA.

yes serious. it sounds like it was written bewteen darkness on the edge of town and the river. i hated the seeger sessions, liked devils and dust and loved the rising. this album blows them all away.

the things i thought were missing from the rising(more saxophone, more rock tunes) are all here plus there is no stupid drum machine going along with max weinberg.

I hate to disagree with alot of you again but I liked the 1st Down, I thought the 2nd was o.k., and I don't like 3 at all.

The 1st one had the most hooks in my opinion.
