Sterling Ball of Ernie Ball Music Man conducted an interview with DREAM THEATER guitarist John Petrucci at this year's NAMM show, which took place January 22-24 in Anaheim, California. John talked about how he started playing guitar, offered some practice tips, discussed his signature guitar, and more. Check out the chat below. Petrucci’s relationship with Ernie Ball Music Man dates back to 1999, when the famed guitarist and the Ernie Ball design team collaborated on the very first John Petrucci signature model. The long-running line of guitars have been worldwide fan favorites and 2016 marks the latest in the series. John says: "Ernie Ball Music Man, to me, is more than just guitars. It's the love and support of the Ball family, the dedication to art, design, and the commitment to innovation and engineering. "Throughout my 16 years with Ernie Ball Music Man, the evolution of the models in my JP signature line are a testament to those values. As I evolve as a musician, so do my guitars and my aim is to preserve the amazing features and specs of previous models that have been road and studio tested over the years, while also offering unique and exciting features in pursuit of developing new creative tools for myself and players around the world." Regarding the JP16 "Majesty", Petrucci states: "This awesome collaboration between myself, Sterling and the Ernie Ball Music Man engineers is is what keeps us moving forward, pushing the envelope of new possibilities and it’s one of the things I value most about our long standing relationship. This guitar is truly amazing on all levels."
