This is the first paid band that i've had over to record with myself.
They're a Drop A Melodic Death Metal band.

My issue is that they wanted a djent style tone crossed with the grit of a 5150 or a duel rec.

The sample is what ive come up with so far which i think is close to what they're asking for. I just think its not quite there yet with how nice it could sound.

Help please ?

Guitars are duel tracked
Drums are all SSD.
No editing has been made yet i.e cutting out space in the guitat tracks etc.

The more help the better with this project as it will potentially lead to bigger bands coming over to record. So i want this to sound as beastly as possible!

Yeah im literally re-stringing an ibanez atm for the bass parts right now.

I think the guitars need some work. It sounds really middy and there's a lot of (digital?) harshness in the tone. There is not a lot of 'beef' in the tone so my suggestion is remove some mid tones and add bass in your guitar amplifier/plugin. I also think that the drums are sounding waay to robotic in the blast part especially. Add some dynamics to the hi-hat part and lose some velocity on the snare part. Think like a drummer :)

I think some things that might help is some strong mid-range tape saturation, compression. Humanize the drums a bit more, and bass will definitely help too.

Right

This is a whole song

Guitars - check
Bass - check
Drums - check

i am yet to play with the snare and hi hat velocities when it comes to blast beats etc

im just hoping everything fitting together nicely and such

feedback would be awesome guys!
