Damn this actually made me respect him more. And I feel kinda the same for most of the Metal Scenes in Latin American Countries. I live in Peru and it's just the same even worse. I remember in a show where some local bands where the opening bands before the main foreign band. And the crowd literally stand still and watched and even shouted them to shut up and come down. Even if it's not a SUPER band i mean come on there should be some support for the local bands.

I understand his frustration but I think this is pathetic. He´s basically saying "I don´t want your admiration, I want your money". To be honest, he is the last person on the planet that I expected to say something like this, after his hilarious performance on Rock In Rio 2011 a few months ago. Seriously, check this out. He is the one who should be paying the audience.

yeah, I know in some other threat I actually complained about his performance here. But I think he is not talking as a musician, either as a "event organizer" and someone who is in the medium. I don't view this like he is saying i don't want your admiration i want your money. I am not posting this because of Angra and edu, I am posting this because i don't know why there is this weird thinking in various latin american countries that if it comes from the outside it's better. For example a few days ago a label here released a Album I mixed and mastered. But on the big official release post they claimed it was mastered in Europe (which was a lie, I already kinda sorted out the problem). The point is they did this to gain more attention because of : OH if it was made outside it MUST be better. instead of encouraging the local industry.

I understand. I can see from where his frustration comes. They make gigs with cheaper tickets and a few hundreds goes. International bands make gigs with huge price tickets and they sold out. But that´s a way too simplistic view.

I´ve seen all these local bands more times than I´ve seen the international ones. The difference is that Rammstein comes here once every 10 years, while Angra makes 10 gigs every month. Now we´re cunts because we don´t want to see them everytime? Sometimes I feel like he´s saying "I´m a rockstar and you must pay for me to live the life style that I want, otherwise you´re a cunt".

Other than that, these guys think too high of themselves. Despite what they say, there aren´t great bands here. Listen to Almah, Shaman and Hangar, then listen to Blind Guardian, Iron Maiden and AC/DC. It´s not because it´s international that it´s better, it´s better because it´s better! I´m sure that Germany, England and Australia also have a lot of local bands that I would never pay to see.

Ouch lol pretty fucked up performance
I loved first Angra albums with matos, the rest is not the same anymore.
A different band.
I love what Kiko put out as a solo artist, top notch quality.

It's the same in Italy....you can count the good bands with one hand...and people acts the same with foreigner bands.
It's not because people only loves international acts but because italian bands suck so much. If you take away some very good bands, you only see unprofessional bands, shitty bands and the worst scenario...shitty bands that think to be very good.

and the worst scenario...shitty bands that think to be very good.
This.

Where i live bands bitch about the lack of support, but i have absolutly zero interest in suppoting shitty acts... Man, where i live EVERYONE FUCKING SUCKS. There's no originality at all, bands tend to sound like a third world version of foreing bands.

My band and i made it to the final round in a national rock/metal contest... and we suck! (we stopped playing until we rehearse enough to be "professional tight" if that makes any sense)

Yeah, i get what all of you are saying. it is true that there is only a hand full of descent bands here too. But i feel sometimes we are already Biased and are missing out and not hgelping the local scene to grow. I myself hate most of the local bands haha, but maybe if there would be more support this would change the attitude of the bands to. I know many good musicians who have great ideas but say to themselves, meeh we live in Peru we are not going to make it anywhere, why bother. And yeah Almah and Hangar and symphonia and that doesn't really do anything for me. Angra on the other hand "kinda" still got it. I think in general the whole "melodic metal" scene is dying. Every day more melodic bands turn dark and heavier. It's just like the 2000 again but the other way round. I remember THOUSANDS of melodic metal bands and they were all the same. Well back on topic i do feel, at least in my country, that there is this "longing" for US or europe products. And even if it is true that most of the times they are "better", it doesn't mean that we should not support it. When we start to support the scene more good bands would like to venture in it.

He's right but his timing is REALLY bad and it makes him a crybaby. If he said it like 4 years ago ,when Angra was still alive, then it would make some sense. But now that he is on a bunch of unknown crappy bands, he is complaining, so fuck him. But yes, that is the brazilian reality. On my town, Belém, the biggest rock bands do shows for between 40 and 80 people. My own band was kinda big a few years ago and we played a few times for 20 people. And I live on a city with 1.2 million people...On São Paulo, that has, i dunno, 6 million people, that looks even worse. Brazil sucks for rock/metal.

I get the point when you speak about the lack of support for local acts...but if you go at live gigs/record local bands you immediately notice that the 99% of the bands suck. I mean, they have no originality, they lack everything about doing an interesting show and they can't play often.
Lot of them listen lot of music and watch concert...but it seems that no one can act like a pro....I ask it at myself very very often... you watch videoclip, lot of studio report, lot of concert...but you can transpose it to your own band.
What you see is a band where everybody look at the other members for the attacks or musicians that after years of live shows don't move because they are too worried about the note they are playing (also if it's a stupid metalcore band). If you play a show you have to do a show in every aspect, you have to record good music and promote it in every aspect.
Every band that argue about how shitty is the scene, sucks! period! You can have more or less possibility (it depends also by the money, the salary etc....everything is connected....if you earn 3000€/month you can have more possibility than with 500€/month) but today you can sign with some foreigner label if you promote your band in a good way.
I've worked with a "decent" band that opened for several international acts also....but after a "boom" period the slowly stopped doin' live shows because of school etc.... after a year they release the album (the signed for a foreigner label) and they did a videoclip......and it completely sucks! Lot of bands unfortunately can't deal with the industry....maybe they can do good only 1 part but not the others... and last but not least, PLAYING IS NOT FOR EVERYONE. Today it seems that everybody can wake up one day and he HAVE TO play an instrument in a band! IT'S NOT TRUE!
Anyway I remember that when I start playing I tried to emulate my favourite guitarists...I watched lot of vhs trying to capture every movement they did onstage. Today when you see local bands on stage....they are....don't know....pathetic and boring....It's very rare I watch some cool show by a local band here...and the problem is that they think they are very good. Just today I read a statement on FB where the singer of a band (clients that recorded with me this summer, they make me lot of hurry for the ep, they still don't pay and they ask me nothing for months....lot of professionality) saying ABOUT HIS BAND "yesterday evening we kick some major ass (more than usual)"........I mean, FUCK YOU IDIOT....your band sucks, your guitarist can't play (I teach him how to play electric guitar when he came to the studio ) and the guitarists used to play brutally out of tune EVERY FUCKIN SHOW (something like, one in B and the other in C....), how can you say something like this? And also if it's real...how pathetic you are saying you kick ass??? The problem is also that when you are not able to criticize yourself and you suck, you'll never improve, you'll never learn because you think you're already a pro and it's a world fault if you're not signed. :D
