Electronic/metal fusion

So I haven't been in GMD forever. Hai. I mostly listen to electronic music these days, but tonight I was d̶r̶u̶n̶k̶ ̶ inspired to branch out by looking into metal/electronic fusion genres. The most entertaining thing I could come up with was this "electronicore" band:



They're still basically metal with electronic accoutrements, which is not my ultimate aim. Every time I go further in the electronic direction, the bands end up being emo, poppish, nu-metalish, or otherwise revolting. There must be something more ideal that I'm overlooking. I'm not trying to go the industrial route either. Any suggestions?

The Algorithm, Neurotech, and I would look into djent, some artists mix electronic in with it.

THANK YOU. I'm checking out those first two, and while Neurotech may be a bit melodic for my taste, that is definitely more the style I'm looking for.

Both of these tracks are quite interesting. I do miss the guitar here, and also the melancholy mood is rather a distraction for me, as I prefer to focus on instrumental dynamics in this style.

It might be too horrifying for what you're looking for though.

I listen to enough goth and industrial not to be horrified. There's something about the sonic texture I really enjoy here, though I prefer a more structured/rhythmic composition.

I dig We Butter the Bread with Butter. Skip the Foreplay is kinda similar but the only good thing they did was a cover of LMFAO's Champagne Showers.

Enjoyed this! I love the looping, and the fact that they could do so much with it instead of going in the sound effect / sample direction.

I'd also check out Vola - In Mazes. They're a djenty band that isn't "electronic" by definition (they're more metal/heavy than electronics) but they use tons of keyboards and synths in their music. And they do it fucking well. I didn't stop playing this for like 6 months when I got it last year.

Horse the Band is another good choice. They aren't really metal, rather metallic hardcore with 8bit fusion. Pretty experimental for their time actually. They later went on and included some existential themes into their music and released one of the greatest mathcore albums of all time

There's a really weird subgenre of metalcore (that was sarcastically coined by Horse the Band) called "Nintendocore", and a lot of interesting bands get lumped in there.
