Eluveitie.

Spirit!
Slania has too much of, hmm...can't get the exact words.
Something like the new inflames sound, not there yet but few of the songs came close though.(The album is still good with nice diversity...just concerned about the direction they are taking)

They get lumped in with Viking metal, but I really don't think they are. I call them Celtic Folk metal. That fits their sound better, I think.

Personally, I thought the songs on Slania were great. I'm looking forward to their acoustic albums.

EDIT: some of the tracks on Slania actually remind me of melodic death metal like In Flames or Dark Tranquillity, if you replaced the keys with flutes and hurdy-gurdies.

I've officially subtitled the album "Soundtrack to Your Celtic Escape". That was the first thing I thought when I heard it

Definitely not Viking at all...all their lyrics are Celtic-based, and the music is based in Celtic folk. Anyone who considers them Viking is fucking clueless.

Oh shit...I hate that album.

Dude, I didn't read this earlier, but in my post I said that Slania reminded me of newer In Flames or Dark Trainquillity if you replaced the keys with flutes and violins. Honestly, sometimes the vocals and guitar riffs really sound Gothenburg-esque. It doesn't bother me much though, because despite its similarity I can't equate it with the "emo" sound In Flames had. All the folk elements save the music for me.

Good. I thought there was some potential on that album, but that it just sucked. But I tried imagining it with crazy folk stuff and it would be really cool.

Probably one of these.

There are only like 3 good songs on the new Eluveitie...they are great songs though. I abhor the shitty melo-death tracks which make the folk elements appear gimmicky though.

I know what you mean; it doesn't totally bother me though. I actually think it's kind of a cool sound.
