EMG pups installation question...

Hi

I rememeber when I replaced the pickups on my Gibson Flying V a couple years ago, there was a major problem:

*) When we replaced the pots, the original knobs (black knobs with silver top hats) couldn't fit back in at all, so I hat to get some cheap metal dome knobs instead.

Does this happened to any of you guys? Is it supposed to be that way? What If I wanna keep my original knobs (I do by the way, I'm getting a new Gibson V soon)?

If they're split shaft, then just stick a flathead screwdriver in there and widen it until the knob will stay on firm.

I meant with no permanent modification. Any of you had this problem before?

The method I posted isn't permanent at all, and yes, I've run into this before. Just widen the shaft of the pots.

What happened to me was the opposite, the shafts were too BIG (on the EMG pots) so my Gibson knobs were too little, so I had to get metal dome knobs.

Ah. Really? I've never had that happen. Do you mean too tall or too girthy to fit?

Well the solution is to grip them with a vicegrip and squeeze them smaller.

I had the same, but I was glad to replace the plastic knobs, I didn't like them, and I'm much happier with metal ones...
