Ive just vought the EMG's and am thinking about putting the 85 in the bridge and the 81 in the neck rather than the 81 in the bridge.?? Im also gonna try the 18v mod as Ive heard this is an improvement over the regular 9v? What do ya reckon??

Im using a Gibson Flying V which has a mahogany body. I thought Id get a fatter tone with the 85 in the bridge?

I have an 85(bridge) installed in my jackson, sounds good, but when you tune down beneath C, it really gets muddy;(

Thats what worries me as I tune down to B. I like the idea of the 85 in the bridge but if it gets muddy then maybe I should put the 81 in the bridge?? Mmmmm....

Do you have the 18v mod JeroenV??

yer low tunings with the 81 on a mahogany body is the only way IMO

however i still love the sound of the 81 in my basswood esp, its a bit on the bright side for the standard tunings, but you need it for c and below, esp if your in Bb tuning!

the 85 will sound a bit more natural in standard tuning in alder and ash guitars id say (retains clarity and warmth), but dont take my word too much on that! again its just my opinion
