i really like eminem. i mean, not in an ironic way or anything. i just think his rhymes are wicked funny and he's very different than a lot of other dudes out there and whatever. people jock him. i even noticed tracks that bite him on snoop's new album. i think it's the whole 'i'm white trash i lived in a trailer' thing that i just well... frankly... identify with.

same here, except for the identification part. what i really do rely with is his way of describing the creative process (all the latest songs out of 8 mile ost are good examples of that). as a budding writer i've come to the conclusion that no matter how commercial he can get, his rants about how and when and why you do what you do are just pure unadulterated truth.
plus of course he's a master of language, and not just the crude kind.

i think most of the people who hate on eminem are the kind of people who, a hundred years ago, would say that someone like dostoevsky was a shitty writer because they are uncomfortable that he mentioned sex.

i don't think eminem is relatively as good as dostoevsky, mind you, but he is quite good and i haven't seen ANY intelligent criticism of him--just "he annoys and offends me".

like, it wouldnt bother me if someone hated him without reason. because i do this sometimes, like strongly dislike a book / band for seemingly no reason. but i find it weird that people are annoyed that i actually like him. i mean, what's the problem? my shining moment this month was walking into work early and totally busting my boss listening to the eminem show on her computer.
