Hey guys, just did a little comparison of these two Engl Preamps...maybe some guys are interested in this stuff.

Signal chain:

Jeffs DI--> Saffire 56 Out--> Palmer Daccapo--> E530/E570--effect send--> Saffire 56 Line in--Cubase 5--> Impulse

Here you find Gregs impulse: http://www.ultimatemetal.com/forum/gear-sale/622013-fs-custom-impulses.html

Just add 120 highpass and around 12-13kHz lowpass

Unfortunately my Adams are at the service, so I just listened to my DT 990 Pro...hope this was not a fail.

The tracks:
E530:

Both sound really good. What impulse is that?

I prefer the 530 as it's a bit clearer/brighter. Though I wonder if I'd prefer the 570 if the treble was a touch higher.

We had an e530 at the studio and it ripped. I definitely like it a lot better than the e570 clip but I'm sure things could probably be dialed in a little better (less gain). I felt that the e530 gave you just enough gain and anything more would just be for the insecure players out there. Thanks for the comparison!

I have E580 and for some reason can't make it (yet) sound half as good as X30

I am an absolute turd

I prefer e530 since it's much more clear (not for I own one :p) but it seems like e570 could go better with some more tweaking.

Hi guys,

the impulse is the Beta Impulse from Greg(@ Greg really great one, will contact you for some more :) )....sorry forgot this in the first post!
I will post a better/ miced sound soon....the time I spend on tweaking the 570 was just about 5min.

If you are interested, I could also post these amps with a TS10 boost?!

Both clips sound good to me, just different sounds there. First one is tighter and has more mids.

For those interested, here's my reamping of "Rose Of Sharyn", Engl Savage 120 into Marshall 1960A cab (G12T-75), no ts, miced with single 57, Vintech pre. No treatment at all (no C4, no filters...), it's totally raw. What do you think ? It's the 2-tracks version, no quadtracking.
It may be a bit fizzy though.

noob Q - why the Daccapo? hum removal?

You do have a Saffire...

ehm, also, 570-effect send.. #52?

I'm going to see if I can get something decent and post it (I gave up on it before I bought JJs..)

i feel like a bit of a twat asking, but do you reckon you could point in the right direction to find that impulse?

Both tones sound great, the e350 one is definitely my favourite but i think that's mostly down to settings not the amp itself

...its the right link

And yes the daccapo is much quieter and it handles the output level of the saffire better than the radial boxes.

I like both amps, too...but in consindering the price, especially pre-owned, the 530 beats the 570!!!! But for sure, I could tweak it better.
