Entombed

I only knew about the new album a few days ago...and the one before that, for that matter  I totally lost touch with Entombed when I lost interest in Uprising about two months after buying it...funny because for a time they were probably one of my favourite bands...

Bah. They lost me after "Clandestine", aside from a few tracks here and there. I've heard a couple of MP3's from the new one and I didn't like them.

If you're a fan of recent Entombed, Inferno is a must own. A fantastic heavy grooving rock/metal hybrid with a downright nasty edge. Furthers the sound of the Morningstar album. Vocals are rough, but not growling and not even as rough as say, Chris Boltendahl from Grave Digger or anything.

Do not expect the deathier sound of a Clandestine or Left Hand Path, but the album's heaviness and attitude are enough to keep any fan from yelling the dreaded "sellout" chant.

I don't have the time to really give an indepth analysis of the sound, but trust me, this is the album Metallica wishes they could've made.

Full Royal Carnage review to follow in a couple weeks.

Entombed is one of those groups that I really like but rarely does anything incredible for me. Morningstar was a good album, but like their other stuff I get tired of it around track 8. Looking forward to the Inferno review though, I keep getting mixed opinions on it.

I'll take Left Hand Path and Clandestine, and leave it there. Npearce took my copy of Morning Star - I just thought it was weak thrash at best....

LHP is my fave...another much needed review.

"inferno" renewed my faith in entombed...all the tracks rip. no unnecessary riffs, everything hits you in the face...there's one track that even resembles "left hand path" (young and dead) and a real doomy, heavy as fuck last song (night and day) the lyrics are kinda funny sometimes but hey nobody here reads lyrics anyway right? this is a kick ass cd...do yourselves a favor and get it. I can't stop listening to it.

Inferno is a welcome ass-kicking death n'roll hybrid for 2003. I think Entombed has done all the right things, and I enjoy their diversity.

Also, hanging with Alex & L-G for a weekend back in June was a load of fun. :)

You obviously weren't paying attention to Clandestine back then, since it KICKS FUCKING ASS.

Should my idiot cohabitant pick up Left Hand Path then? Unfortunately he controls the cash flow.

What the...?

Guess I'll pick up LHP then. Been listening to these dudes for 11 years and I'm just now getting to the good stuff. :tickled:

so apparently LG Petrov passed away from cancer earlier today. I dont have much experience with Entombed, but have plenty with cancer....and it's the absolute worst.

RIP

Sucks. RIP.

Wolverine Blues was a gateway drug album for me. Fucking loved that shit as a kid, but it's been painful to my mine ear drums for many years now.

Left Hand Path and Clandestine both rule immensely. Landmark albums. I've tried to determine which is "better" many times but it really is mood dependent.

Love dis cover tho.

EDIT: I originally linked to the "official" video via Earache, which has a stupid generic riff at the beginning and the track itself skips. Really?
